| First re-read of volume 12. (Warning: big spoilers ahead) A great conclusion to the third arc of the series, The Heroic Oppai Dragon. This volume actually focused mainly on the guys (Kiba, Gasper, Sirzechs, Azazel, Sairaorg, Vali and Saji) as they fought back against the demonic beasts and the Hero Faction without Ise being present. With the girls in a bad state, Kiba and the remaining guys stepped in to push things forward. I would be inclined to say that this is Kiba's volume as he shows great adversity, strength, and spirit as he defeats Siegfried, as most of this volume was told from his perspective. Even in death, Ise manages to motivate everyone. Ise is alive because the past users inside the Sacred Gear sacrificed themselves to protect his soul from the curse, along with Ddraig's quick thinking. They will be missed. Gasper awakens his abilities once he learns of Ise's death. It wasn't even a contest, and Georg got devoured by the darkness. It was about time we see Gasper have his moment, and it couldn't have been more spectacular. Ise makes his grande return by riding Great Red and using his powers to eliminate the Jabberwockey. It was funny seeing Great Red sing Zoom Zoom Iyan as he enters the dimensional gap. Cao Cao was also overwhelmed and outplayed at the end by Ise, but managed to escape. In the end, things turned out alright, well... except for Azazel, but hey. I pray the anime gets a 5th season. Not only because this would conclude the current arc the anime is on, but because the anime would be adapting the best parts from the first half of the series (in terms of writing). Overall, great volume once again. Volumes 11 & 12 are some of the best volumes in the entire series (so far). |
