Why bother with the harem?

Im an anime only so my opinion is based on what i have seen throughout the 24 episodes, this anime was a fun watch while it had its up and downs like how it’s a bit overdramatic regarding cosplay but at the end its not bad

This story is about how the mc through his bonds with the girls and through cosplay can break his trauma regarding real girls and to see them as real love interests, which is fine until the harem part which i despise the most, because this story clearly favors one girl over the others, I don’t know what happens in the manga next but as far as I have seen so far this story is gonna be about how the mc while having romantic moments with the other girls, he’s gonna break their hearts and realize his love for the main girl (ririsa) while having cosplay drama to spice things up, this makes me think why even bother with the harem? Harem is only enjoyable when all the girls have equal and true chances

Their gonna be people that not gonna like my opinion but i just wanted to share my thoughts about harem stories like this one which I truly despise. Not regretting watching the anime but imo without the harem it would have been WAY better or if the other girls have a real chance with the mc, but it’s most likely not

Also, imo it would have been better if the mc loved other anime girls equally with Liliel which may give the other girls the opportunity to cosplay them and make the mc see them as he sees Ririsa but I don’t think so…

This makes me think, should I continue watching and might also read the manga while knowing exactly what gonna happen? This anime was fun really but I don’t know about continuing

To be fair most harems (that end with one girl not multiple anyway) prioritize one girl so it's obvious who they'll choose. I do think they need to do a better job making it equal because even if it's equal time spent they usually don't have the same impact. Then there's the typical first main girl trope wins which they also need to break from. And even when they try to make it random, they mess up the amount/quality of time spent anyway, like Quintessential Quintuplets. Snafu is one of the few that doesn't mess it up as bad except that was just a love triangle not a harem and the one I liked more still didn't win lol.

In this show's defense though it isn't fully adapted or finished as a manga either so maybe it does balance it out later on. Season 2 should be good insight at least.

Agree, but as the user above said, it's just a common thing with the harem genre.

It's not really a typical harem imo. As you say there is only Ririsa as the obvious outcome, with Mikari there as competition. The other girls are just eye candy.

I remember I dropped the manga because nothing happens after the dad reunion arc, is all the harem girls getting flustered by the 1 dude over and over.

My thoughts exactly. I like the series, but if suffers from the same trappings of the harem genre.
