The final volume is now out. This is for the epilogue chapter that came out with the final volume. And this was absolutely nothing. This wasn't even properly drawn lmfao. It was just sketches. Absolute garbage. Just want to reiterate that Aka is a fraud.

Hopefully this epilogue will clear the ass that was left on my mouth. What a fall from grace, to one of the most loved Animanga to one of the most clowned on.

Oshi no ko from a 8.50 to an 8.25
At the end of the day, we all love watching trash.

So it made Abiko & Frill married (I mean who cares). Some goody developments which is good. Melt is successful which is kinda satisfying. Mem retired which just made Ruby more alone seesh..

Atleast Kana got back on her feet and that is covered off screen WILD.

There's nothing more to say except, "What a shame."

The ratings for ONK have been rightfully declining since the last few volumes were published, and now they seem to have bottomed out.

Oh, what could have been.

Huh this truly was our Oshi no Ko. I can't believe of MHA, JJK, and Oshi No Ko the one with the ending I was most disappointed by was OnK. It's the not the worst ending ever or anything but still quite disappointing how this manga went.

It's heartbreaking that Taiki's reason for continuing to live is tied solely to Ruby's survival. While it's touching that he found purpose in being there for the only blood-related family she has left, it also highlights the deep loneliness he's endured. Taiki had always longed for a family, and just when he finally found one, it was cruelly ripped away. His introduction was incredibly compelling, showcasing him as a strong, mysterious figure, only for him to be reduced to a gag character later. It's disappointing to see a character with so much potential sidelined like that. His eyes, mirroring Aqua’s after Ai’s death, carried such weight and pain—it’s a shame the story didn’t explore his depth further. The manga had so much room to make him pivotal, but instead, it missed an opportunity to develop a truly impactful character arc.

He has the same eyes Aqua had after Ai's death.

@ARK-13 The fact that Aka even forgot how many pages this chapter was in will instantly tell you how much he cared about it. He promised it as a gift to the fans, but essentially just tried to lazily rewrite Chapter 166 in a more optimistic tone, even retconning some things. For example, now Aqua's suicide is directly shown as a mistake and thus just one page here negates the entire ending and an entire month or two of Aqua's attempts to justify it.

@xBaldur_ What do you mean? I've only seen that the manga has lost a lot of high ratings on various resources, getting closer to 6-7 among others over time. Although it is still high due to estimates of its peak times.

@WaterMage It's not entirely hidden behind the scenes, LN is dedicated to this. But I wouldn't say it makes things much better when you see Aka not knowing what to do with them. For example, in LN Kana even seems to move on from the first (breaking her fans' hearts), but this chapter shows her as married to her job. In this chapter, Akane claims to be trying to learn to live on her own, but LN literally talks about how she hopes to resurrect Aqua and becomes an occultist. It's just a mess.

@Rexnihilo What if I told you that just ending Taiki's arc in this way completely ruins the entire ending of the manga and Aqua's arc as a character? With just a couple of sentences, Aka seems to be telling us that everything he did before was simply a mistake and we wasted time on him justifying it with Ruby's protection, his life's purpose, etc.

@RobertBobert I meant that I doubt the average rating on MAL will go much lower than it is now. It's dropped around 0.30 in the past 6 months, which is fairly significant.

@xBaldur_ Really? You just said that they fell and that’s all. But one way or another, I think this is a typical case of false impression. This manga was too good before it fell, so even with the disastrous ending, this one still has a pretty high cushion. It's like if author of Freeren went crazy and destroyed everything with a similar crap ending, the ratings still wouldn't drop too low.

@RobertBobert mb lol. Yeah I agree, the first 3/4 of the manga are so solid, it's just a shame how it ended. It becomes tough to recommend some things when the ending is known to be bad, I mean look at Game of Thrones, but I feel that OnK is somewhat of an exception. Hopefully, they can touch up the ending in the anime.

@xBaldur_ I think quite a lot of people have long agreed that this is kinda the Game of Thrones of the anime world. The only difference is that in the first case adaptation ruined things, but here, on the contrary, it is the last chance to change this.

@RobertBobert that does sounds like Akane tbf.

@WaterMage I haven't read, most of the information is based on leaks. But one guy is going to gradually translate it into English on a subreddit if you want.

Use this link to find chapter 166.5
https://mangadex.org/title/296cbc31-af1a-4b5b-a34b-fee2b4cad542/-oshi-no-ko

It's not really a chapter, it simply sketches and some words that feel like they are directed towards the audience.

And for my personal take on the ending.....It's terrible! Aqua shouldn't have killed himself.
And on a side note, I personally think that Aqua should be been able to at the very least save his mothers life long enough for emergency services to get there...Since he was a doctor in his previous life! There NEEDS to be a 'what if' story of Ai, Aqua, and Ruby living out their dreams in the entertainment business. I'd personally pay big bucks to see that.

Imagine marketing this "chapter" as having some kind of relevation in the final magazine chapter and then releasing this low quality trash (both content wise and quality of the drawings). People who read the final chapter in the magazine and bought the final volume for this chapter should feel scammed...

@yakisobapan Imagine that you openly advertise this as a gift to fans after years of investing in this manga, but in the end you don’t even remember how many pages it has. Aka just a typical Hollywood "visionary" who doesn't see the line between original writing and too much out of control fantasy.

@quietkun27 Which in the end was described very superficially and seems to be only added to give disappointed fans at least something (as mentioned above, this is essentially a formally more “optimistic” version of chapter 166). Because waifu simps seem to be the only ones left with at least some level of motivation in this fandom.
