What if "Reading Steiner" is actually a brilliant meta-joke about how Okabe used beer to hack his own cognitive processing?

Think about it:

Stein = beer mug
"Reading" = academic progression by actually reading

Imagine a postdoc (basically Okabe, who attains this level at some point) using a strategically consumed brew to reset mental parameters while navigating impossible research conditions.

Similarly; academic readers at British universities climb the ladder by reading to get promoted -its at their very title

Would love to hear what the community thinks be it canon or headcanon.

A "Reading Steiner" could have initially symbolized a beer that helped Okabe chill out (at least initially, before he coined the term for use at an academic context at which youd be familar with at canon)

post super scriptum: this is a toast to Okabe at his birthday.

Are we just gonna ignore the 10/10 art on the chalkboard
This was made with a piece of chalk?
Truly I tell you, this was the work of Steins Gate.

yes, the art is certainly non-trivial.

peak headcanon brother.

“Stein” as a beer mug and “Reading” as academic progression is exactly the kind of layered wordplay Okabe would accidentally stumble upon, then fully embrace as if he planned it all along. Imagine: postdoc Okabe, mentally fried after juggling research and impossible timelines, grabs a beer to “reset” his cognitive state. It works, and so he dubs the phenomenon “Reading Steiner.”

It also ties in beautifully to the academic system where “reading” is literally part of climbing the ladder—like earning titles by “reading” more. So Okabe, whether intentionally or not, merges chill-out beer moments with intellectual breakthroughs, something every academic (or student) could relate to.

Whether canon or headcanon, it’s exactly the kind of absurd-yet-genius connection that fits Steins;Gate and Okabe’s personality perfectly.

I had noticed something similar recently, and am glad that you too found this projection to be at least mildly interesting : - )
