Like, I'm so confused. He could simply (?) go back in time to at least prevent that + prevent his leg from getting hurt badly which also prevents Beatrice from going into a coma.

Because one of the major point of season 2 was that Subaru should value his life more and live each life to the fullest and only using Return by Death as last resort.

People who still asked this question need to go rewatch season 2.
Basically all the witches beside Echidona tells Subaru to treasure his life more.
So unless the situation is at the point of no return, Subaru won't commit suicide.
This is to keep himself like a human. Also Subara watches all the timeline of those world which he abandoned after his death, and how tragic it can be, which also plays into a factor why Subaru doesn't want to abuse Return by Death.

There's an IF path which Subaru becomes the pawn of Echidona, and got completely desensitized to death and acts like a monster who doesn't value any life.

Bro whole S2 part 1 was about how he should value his life and not use RBD as a tool...Besides he doesn't knows how checkpoints are made, like in s1 ep 1 he tried return by death to same Rem but he was always late....and since he woke up after some time maybe checkpoint had been made after Regulus kidnapped Emilia....

Ok, thanks for the answer. Man, 4 years makes you forget things huh? Really need to rewatch S2 part 1.

My take after remembering the context is that not doing RBD prematurely is good since he could analyze the current tragedy timeline more.
The downside is your "checkpoint" could just randomly change, rendering some of your options futile and even permanently making important people die (which never happened for some reason).
But, if it's for his own sanity and humanity I would say that's a fair trade.

@DJKuroinu couple of good questions right there:
1. Does checkpoint "randomly change"? Or is there a pattern?
[This season presents one of the oddest check point resetting at the beginning]

2. If WoE strictly controls the checkpoints, does she have a list of people she wants to see living along with Subaru? Will "important people" die?

This anime gets pretty formulaic in this regard, sadly.

In other words, once you realize certain achievements in the story, it quickly becomes obvious he can't fail this time again and if he fails his restore point would be not that far away.

Because, you know, all that sweet character developement would go right into drain. Which is... actually one of the biggest downsides Re:Zero has.

I have a serious question man! Why does Satella (S2) is in the santuary dream with Echidna and the other witches if she, Satella, is sealed in an other place in Lugnica? I read that Echidna's Necklace has got inside "just" four or five witches's souls!!

And...(an other question): When does Echidna become Omega? Is this a part of the story that still has to happen?

Last one: Why Beatrice is with Subaru in S3? I don't remember well S2.

@Dennis14T If you donnu why Beatrice is there, you REALLY need to rewatch s2 cuz that's basically the highlight of the season and the only reason Subaru can survive S2.
It's like all your times is wasted cuz you're playing games/ reading tiktok while watching all the episodes.

Subaru is too busy being alive to return by death.

Also Subaru ending up missing a limb makes him more like Al
