As far, Chikyuu is the best new series of fall season for me. Don't get me wrong. Dandadan still is very good, even though I don't like absurd humor as much. Third season of Re:Zero is comparable, and I can't decide which is better. Further, with a progress of plot, it can change though.

Yes. Best so far for sure from what I've watched. I'm not caught up to blue lock but it's best for new series.

Yes, it is the best if we exclude sequels. Otherwise, no. Bleach is way ahead of the competition this season.

Yes, of course everything could change. For example, after I saw first episode of Uzumaki. I thought, probably it will be one of the best shows in this season. How it ends, everyone knows.

It's way too soon to determine, but so far, then yeah. It's the best new series this season. Blue Box is a close second.

But if we also include sequels, then I don't think it's even top 5.

@Cersil Maybe has kinda similar vibe, and I'll recommend this for those who liked Viland Saga. But still, thinking that all anime with action in medieval europe is just Viland Saga with a twist, is silly.

@Memowynekromanta Vinland Saga looks less internally contradicting than this, this looks like distorted anime about medieval era. Vinland Saga shows its era more correctly

AOTS and saving grace of one of the worst seasons of the last few years, so far. Beastars Final Season is the only anime that might get close to Chi., but I haven't heard good things about how the manga ended.

Can’t really see the ‘best anime’ label some people put on this. Yes, it’s well made and covers some interesting philosophical and moral issues from angles that anime doesn’t usually bother with, but originality doesn’t make it actually entertaining. It’s definitely good enough that a decent proportion of viewers will see it as best, that’s how individual taste works, but to me it’s not really proper anime anyway. I know it qualifies technically, but the art style and darkness, visually and thematically, make it more of an animated historical drama to me. (Yes it’s subjective and I respect anyone’s opinions, I’m just replying to OP with my own).
Anyhow, there are at least 5 currently running anime that are more entertaining this season to me, so that’s my view on it.

I am not a fan of the pacing, what they did with 5 episodes could have been done with 2, even 1 if you are smart. Also, everyone being shitty or broken doesn't exactly make them compelling characters.

Fitting the content in these 5 episodes into just 1 or 2 would absolutely make for a far worse product, idk why you would even propose that.

Of everything airing I'm currently watching eight seasonals for sure regularly including this one, a few others which I've sampled and debated whether to continue with or not, at least one I'm probably going to drop, a few I haven't touched yet but am probably going to at least try eventually, and one which I definitely intend to watch but doesn't start until late in the season in mid-November. Oh, and a few series which I had planned/wanted to watch before the season actually started but then found out they were just very short shorts.

So, taking all that into consideration, I can only really judge the ones which I'm actively keeping up with right now and have seen every episode that has been released of.

Of those, for me it's between If My Wife Becomes an Elementary Student, this (Orb), and 365 Days to the Wedding for my favorite. Then additionally there are even some other series which are a lot better than I initially expected them to be, like Maou 2099. But of all I've seen, this one probably has the strongest writing.

Geez, can you relax? What's with the "best series this season" threads lately?
Personally, that's a bit of a stretch. But one thing I can honestly admit is that ORB is my best new anime of the fall 2024 season. But best anime of the season overall? No. T10 for sure.

I would never expect, that I met this guy. Who thinking is a great idea to adapt whole over a dozen volumes manga, in one season with 12 episodes. Bro, just stop making anime, everyone hates you.

Like I said, as far. I know everything can change. In the beginning of fall season, Uzumaki was in my top 5. I never thought, that if some show has good first 5 episodes. Means entire show will certainly be good. It's just predicting.

@FreedomKME This is how we ended up with gems such as Uzumaki and Promised Neverland Season 2. No thanks.

What makes them compelling is that their beliefs, philosophies and worldviews are well thought and fleshed out. They have more dimensions as people that we can understand. Maybe if you ignore the dialogue and cut it out they feel like simple caricatures.

Are they "well thought and fleshed out"? Kid spent 3 episodes hammering down how smart he is and how he tricks people into doing what he wants to live a better life, only to abandon everything to a new found dogma/research he WON'T GET TO SEE.

@FreedomKME This is an example of what I said. You just stated the beginning of his character arc, skipped everything in the middle and then stated the end of his character arc like he suddenly changed his mind. If it was all condensed in 1 episode, you'd be right. And the fact that you think they can cut everything in between shows that you don't actually care for character building in this way.

It's fine if you don't enjoy this topic or style of storytelling but you're blatantly misrepresenting what actually happened. I'm just glad it exists for people that do enjoy it.

@wingzero604 episode 4 has the best animation so far, the only problem with this anime is its too dark but they are slowly improving it in the latest episode.

@Mackyreels After more episodes of each series came out and my opinion on each 'solidified', then yeah, it's top 5 for me. But genuinely, how pathetic are you to go to anyone who has a different opinion from you and reply to them?

If it keeps its appeal that it has throughout the series, it will be the AOTS, but a lot can happen in a full cour, the quality for all we know could fall of a cliff on episode 12, we'll just have to wait and see. But so far its looking very promising. Its not as exciting as Dandadan, but the story is way more compelling.
