While reading Light Novel for the first time I was confused what is this symbol and why it is used. Do know the name or the meaning behind this symbol? https://files.catbox.moe/amssyl.jpg https://files.catbox.moe/07gda2.jpg

it's used when a more significant change happens, like the scene changes or a small time skip. Take page 63 in vol 1 for example, alya and masachika are in the classroom. The diamond symbol and then it's the next day, so it's used to show something in where the book is being described changed, sry if I worded this bad

I almost forgot English is written horizontally even in light novels, while it’s most likely vertical if you get one in the East.

@HaruyukiIsCute The physical copy is written vertically in Japanese, I believe.

But it’s also vertical in Chinese and (I think) Korean. That’s why I said light novels are mostly vertical in the East.

@HaruyukiIsCute I don't even know which way is the East. That's why I mentioned Japanese.

You are from Bangladesh so that kind of makes sense. Or maybe you mean Japanese is the only East Asian language you know. FYI East Asia doesn’t include South and Southeast Asian countries which means they all write vertically.

@HaruyukiIsCute How does my nationality bear any relevancy to the subject?

Also, their not incorporating South and Southeast Asian countries has nothing to do with them writing vertically. Unless I'm not sounding ignorant, do feel free to enlighten me.

What I am trying to say is that, all East Asian countries write vertically, and this is common sense for me. But if you don’t know, it’s also understandable, because Bengali and some other Southeast Asian languages write horizontally.

I replied you to add correct information to your comment and justify why you didn’t know.
Please bear in mind I’m not doing so to offend you but to give you more information.

My first comment stated that I forgot most light novels outside the East are printed horizontally and since you asked, I explained it’s because East Asian write vertically and I get used to it, therefore I forgot about other light novel printings.

Hope this clears up your misunderstanding.
