and just like that, season one is finished, a lot to unpack here but I will probably focus on the jiu fight. first of all, what an amazingly choreographed fight and more than that the idioms littered through the battle for jiu to clock that "he is free" with regards to his disposition in both the tunnel and in life in general puts into perspective how mad his life was in the first place. His rate of adapting to a given situation is something that needs to be commended. I can only assume that Jiu inadvertently killed his mother by opening the door and random stabbing her. that slow accumulation of pent-up guilt and frustration was let out on his verge of collapse and this was masterfully done.

we also got ourselves a huge dose of philosophy here with a myriad of problems from killing to societal expectations and even religion. these parallels as seen with Hogul and the doctor had me thinking about what is right and wrong in this specific setting because as we all know these people are rejects of South Korean society not even real people. the tipping of power and senseless violence by these bums can be seen as the ultimate joke as one side can determine it to be full utilisation of free will or the complete opposite with this just being a consequence of genes and all that biological mumbo jumbo.

apart from that this chapter was absolutely mindblowing and I honestly cannot wait for the next season. PEAK FICTION!!!
