Tbh the anime is not sad it’s very fun and realistic !!! The real sad thing is there’s no season 3 !!!! The anime is actually done with season 1 season 2 is just adding some chapters of manga and it was sooo good !!! One of the best romcom type of anime I have watched . Give it a try

The first season leans more towards the seriousness and dramatic outlook of the series, while the second season focuses on the comedic and lighthearted aspects. The tone of the story completely shifts in season 2, because instead of it being a standard second season, it allows you to enjoy the happier elements of the world by filling in the “missing pieces” of the story.

While the first season is a balanced story with tons of different emotions sprinkled in, 93% of Horimiya Pieces is a pure comedy and slice of life. In fact, that same 93% of the story are just random (enjoyable) inserts that you will have no clue where to place them in the main story.
