When people are talking about Primordial fears, they are most commonly speaking about the fear of Death, Darkness, Falling (which i personally still dont understand, why early humans were more frightened of falling than drowing or why drowing is not considered a primordial fear but thats for a differentthread to discuss), the fear of Predators and the fear of Isolation/Extinction. I repeat: the fear of isolation is also called the fear of extinction often.
I think many of you can probably guess where I am going with that.
I think pochita/black chainsaw man could easily be the fear of extinction.
Since that's what pochita does, pochita kills a devil, it will be gone.
Obviously he kinda fits the fear of Predators too, like every devil kinda from human perspective at least. So I don't know if and how fujimoto would implement the fear of Predators.
The question I have then, if my theory were to be true and pochita is indeed a Primordial fear, why is pochita so weak even in black chainsawman form and why does pochita have chainsaws at all. Pochita is most definitely not the chainsaw devil.
My first personal theory was that pochita is some kind of anti devil and here to help humans, but I couldn't really come to a conclusion with that, so when i was thinking about the fear of drowing, i stumbled about a couple articles that mentioned the fear of isolation, as the fear of extinction and thought well, thats exactly what pochita does. Pochira literally will make Devils go extinct.
I never opened up a discussion in a forum or something myself, i hope this one is not too bad. I would love to hear more theories about the Primordial Devils and pochita.
1. I think quantity is more important than quality, it is true that drowning is scarier than falling, but we have all fallen in our lives and were afraid of it, while only some were in a situation where they could drown (also the devil of falling includes falling in the sense of degradation but that's for another discussion).
2. This is my opinion: as we saw from the first part Makima defeated the gun devil with everything she controlled but even with that she couldn't defeat the chainsaw man, because of which she spread the word that he defeated the gun devil and thus the chainsaw man who was strong because people and devils were afraid of him (since we don't know his real name, we don't know how much people feared him),lost his power from the fear of people and neutralized the power from the fear of devils (we don't know if it was completely or only a part of the power he got from people). Don't get me wrong even after he lost his power from the fear of people, he was able to avoid the Angel Devil's spear that took 1000 years. Makima said: The fear of devils give you power. I have the humans eating that power right now. If we look at that statement alone, we can theorize that most of chainsaw man's power comes from devils (and that the fear of humans is negligible) and that the love of humans is enough to reduce the power he gets from the fear of devils, but that's for another discussion. What I'm trying to say is: if the Makima who defeated Gun Devil wasn't even close to defeating chainsaw man without weakening him then there's no way Yoru can defeat him with gun devil and tank devil weapons (I don't know what all Yoru has in her arsenal but it seems to me that it is weaker than Makima). Conclusion: chainsaw man's weaker condition is not completely removed. Evidence: although the public is afraid of the 350,000 "wannabe chainsaw mans" spread around the world, chainsaw man as an individual has done nothing wrong publicly and surely there are still people around the world who respect him for defeating Gun Devil, since the beginning of the fight, chainsaw man has not moved with super speed (by that I don't mean what we saw in the last few chupters how fast he cuts others but how in the 87th chupter he could move so fast that he breaks buildings and does damage like Yoru with Index finger), his regeneration is bad, in in the past he didn't need blood at all to regenerate from the size of his heart while burning through the atmosphere and now he is asking for blood from two bangs even though he took more of them before, ripped out his heart and regenerated while burning, there is no way he will lie on the floor crawling only due to the loss of the lower part of his body if his powers have returned! It was also said before that Fami wants chainsaw man and war devil to get stronger to defeat death devil but if what Yoru said is true and Fami wants Yoru to turn chainsaw man into a weapon then it makes sense that chainsaw man is still weakened since Yoru wouldn't stand a chance against him if he was at full strength.
Sorry for taking so long but this is the answer to why Pochita is weak even though he is in black form.
Also, don't forget that the chainsaw man has one weakness, although his behavior is chaotic, there is one situation where he is predictable, when someone asks for help (he will always respond to a request for help, he will kill the one who harassed the one who asked for help, then he will kill the one who was asking for help), thus Makima was able to use Kobeni as bait and hit the chainsaw man with a spear.
By the way, my theory is that the chainsaw man hero is the devil. Makima called him the hero of hell, it would be logical that devils are afraid of hero, that would explain why no matter how many times he dies he continues to save those who ask for help , heroes always have some special power to defeat evil like chainsaw has the power to erase devils, if heroes represent order, then the devil version of the hero would be chaotic, he would not get so much fear from people, but if there is a devil of justice, then surely there could be a hero devil (maybe there are bad people who are afraid of being caught by "heroes").
