I agree with you. Alya has very little presence in a show with her name in the title. Kuze and Yuki have been the main focus, so far, which is kinda disappointing. Bright side to it. I actually like Kuze and Yuki.

She did
First of all (and I think it's important to point it) the title was already this one when the first volume came out (which means the first 4 episodes).
In the first episode we have Alya speaking Russian to Masachika and making gags with him. Alya is the focus.
Second episode they both play around with Yuki and Yuki makes fun of her + Alya and Masachika have time together when she goes for shopping. Alya is the focus.
Third episode we have Alya's backstory + the way she felt in live with Masachika. Alya is the focus.
Fourth episode we have Alya having a hard time with student council things and we see what clearly is going to be her biggest issue the one for which Masachika will show her the way. (Yes repetitively throughout the first season but you can see for yourself that Alya has always been making one step further each time she had to face student council things. She got on stage in episode 8 and tried to speak for herself while she barely managed to talk to the brats in episode 4. I can't talk publicly yet about what she is going to do during tomorrow episode but if you really want to know read behind spoiler
She will start her speech by talking in Russian about who she is and what she wants. Then she will explains her plans for when she becomes the student council president which consists of welcoming competent people such as Nonoa, Sayaka and even Yuki and Ayano in because she thinks Seirei Gakuen needs skillfull people to be the head of the students and that she is the one who can manage that future team. You can disagree with that opinion of her but
If you said that "Okay we are seeing her living up to the show's name every 4 episodes but inbetween she doesn't really seem to do something" I would understand but remember that Roshidere (in it's novel format) is based of the Japanese 4 times narration rythm of θ΅·ζΏθ»’η΅ kishotenketsu. Which consists of introducing the context, perturbing the situation and developing on it, plot twist, conclusion.
In the developing part we have Masachika mentoring her in the conclusion we have Alya show what she learned ( Alya doing something... ) and what she has yet to learn ( ...but she fails and Masachika saves her ) this rythm in anime format being divided into 4 episodes per book you get that Alya doing something significant every 4 episodes. This rythm will never change (maybe the adaptation will change the way it's animated if a second season airs but the story will always be told this way)
Exemple with the last book being animated :
Context: Episode 9 they beated Sayaka's ass and they reunite to discuss what happened and how Alya feels about it. Masachika goes to Nonoa and tells her they wish she does something about this
Perturbation and developing on it: Episode 10 Masachika tells Alya that there is a ceremony incoming for which Alya has to get ready and he explains to her what is going to happen and how it is going to happen. Mentoring her on how to overcome that challenge.
Plot twist: Episode 11 Yuki manipulates everyone and tries to make Alya lose self confidence before the ceremony. Masachika reunites a team ready to support Alya.
Conclusion: Episode 12 see you tomorrow if you didn't want to read spoilers above.
@DragyG I have always liked Alya for first 3 episodes. But problems started after it I have no problem her fumbling one or two times but she done that 3-4 times. She shouldn't be having that much issues with that lofty of a goal. I get growing through the journey but her starting point is way to weak. The current president worked hard on himself before trying to get nominated. She is made a bit too incompetent to make Kuze a better support to her. Not really a fan of that. I get what you trying to say by little progress through each LN. But it's a bit slow for what they are selling. Currently Kuze is doing most of the work which ideally should have been shared. About the last episode..(I have way too Pro Yuki stance so take this with that as you wish) She invites her and then literally tells her "you know you are very easily walking into a trap shouldn't you reconsider" but Alya was way too stubborn and prideful and still accepts the challenge. I can understand a "weak" person trying to grow to achieve his goals but that person shouldn't be this prideful and overestimate his/her capability only to fail. After that I will admit Yuki played a very dirty trick she didn't really lied and it's all fair game in elections (as I learn from current geopolitics). But if it's not Yuki who I really like I would have been salty. She is just trying to win and as far I understand she have learned this things from his brother and want to make him more motivated so that can have an all gloves off battle. Yuki ultimately losing this election is inevitable (I think) and I am interested to see how they wrap up(I didn't read your spoiler) I just don't want to see her get trouncedπ₯². |

I’ve been checking the score since ep 1 since it went from 8.17 to 7.88; it definitely will drop the score. If you look at other forum posts the majority of people have been really disappointed with this show cause of Alya. If you have Alya win the election then it is a forced win which is also unrealistic. Just think about it from a viewer’s perspective, what even is the purpose of Alya?

About Alya
The problem is that you consider Alya's win at the end of the series from that viewer perspective.
Once again (because it seems hard to understand for anime onlies) the elections aren't an arc. That's the main plot line of the series and the end of the elections = the end of Roshidere.
So when you say Alya's win would be forced it's purely non-sense when you don't even know half of what happened before she wins.
About Yuki
I'm not going to vomit on her but seriously wtf?
Most people saying Yuki is carying the show is because her actual personality is the one of a degenerate weeb when Alya is a little bit needy. Joke on you
We know from volume 9 that her weeb personality is not her true self and only a tool she uses so Masachika will look at her and love her. Hoo Yuki is just as needy for the whole story as Alya was in the first part? How sad that Alya is actually the one growing up from the beginning of the story while Yuki stays as needy as she was at the beginning for the whole series.
About ratings
Most people expected a stupid brainless romcom just as the first episode was. Seems people on mal can't think a romcom can have an actual story. And this when you look at how they are yapping about the ecchi being gone and the "shitty student council thingy" explains the rating drop. If you think it's legitimate, ok. That's your opinion and I'm gonna respect that. However it'd mean you think a romcom is shit if you don't see H content for 12×25 = 300 minutes. Better watching porn than animes at this point.
About Roshidere in case you watched Roshidere with the screen and sound turned off and / or are completely ignorant of basic storytelling
Roshidere is a story about teenagers growing up.
Yuki has never been introduced in the series as the one supposed to win the election but as a milestone for Alya. Alya would have grown up when she would have beaten Yuki. So you all saying Alya isn't doing anything are stupid. ALYA IS GROWING UP that's what she is doing and that first part of the series shows where Alya STARTS in her growth. She STARTS as a SPOILED SOCIALLY AWKWARD 15 YEARS OLD GIRL INCAPABLE of making people listen to her. And THAT is going to CHANGE that's why she is the one having her name in the title. (But hey, that's a simple story written for teenagers. Understandable grown up adults have a hard time understanding it. Wait shouldn't it be the opposite ?)
@DragyG You've expressed my thoughts to them with pinpoint accuracy and further expanded upon it. It's what I would have told them as well, although with a more prim and candid manner. Thank you. |

Excellent delineation of the inaugural season of Roshidere. I can always count on you to put those anime-onlies to their place.
Although I think your grammar and punctuation could use some real tune-up, your vocabulary's pretty diverse, though. Pair that up with perfect grammar and punctuation and you'll be getting perfect grades.

Studying English is the thing I really and deeply dislike in my studies. Why did they make a language so hard to speak...

If they win the election is because of Kuze I wouldn’t say she has a bad dynamic with Kuze but she’s not winning the election without Kuze.
But I agree while I don’t think Alya is a bad character. Masha, Yuki and Kuze are far better.
Hell even Ayano’s better than Alya
It really feels like she’s just clinging to Kuze

Just like any hero in Western fantasy clings to their mentor at the beginning.
Then mentor dies
That's what is going to happen to Alya
@DragyG Well Kuze obviously isn't gon die but I get what you mean by that. She'll come into her own through Kuze. I mean it wont make me like her more than Masha, Kuze and Ayano but I'll like her character a lot more once she starts to rely a bit less on him |

SunSunSun better be cooking something tasty & flavory, FR. I am the person who mentioned British Stepsister novel to you a few days ago, not sure if you remembered it~ My favourite part of volume 9 is when Alya turned into a master seductress. XP Placing Masachika hand on her thighs. XD I just noticed most of the master seductress in romance titles have foreign heroines such as the Finnish one. https://hifumi.co.jp/lineup/9784824200389/ Getting back on topic, after reading volume 9 chapter 2, Alya is probably my no3 favourite female lead in a modern romance title, after Asakura Rin and Charlotte Bennett. :) |

But seriously her name is literally in the title so if she isn’t important to the plot then it’s just fanservice selling point and also misleading. I’d much rather have Kuze as the sole mc at this point and make all the girls a side char. Or just honestly, make Yuki or Masha the fmc. I also don’t want to wait 9-10 volumes foe char growth, we are anime watchers here, we expect to see growth sooner otherwise we are just wasting our time with this show. |

You are assuming there will be a s2. There very well may not be one.

Bro at this point if there is no season 2 I drop college.
The announcement is like running on the highways to get delivered tomorrow.

spiritualfox2016 said: @DragyG With how poorly this anime has become I won’t be surprised there won’t be a season 2. Some anime like 86 still hasn’t gotten a season 2 and its been years, and it was a really good show. It had a second cour buddy despite many problems during the production. Second cour or season 2 call it as you like but it's definitely coming for Roshidere |

The official twitter account of Roshidere just posted a visual from V4, with Masachika and Alya basking in the moonlight amidst tranquility. No further explanation required. I have no idea how well the anime did in Japan, but I do know for a fact that the LN is currently one of the best-selling LNs. And the release of V9 just above a fortnight ago only upped the sales. Regardless of whether there is a continuation of the anime series (which there most likely will be), the LN is, without an iota of a doubt, highly successful in Japan. |
