Recently just finished episode 9 and started to realise that Michael Jackson had something to do with this episode. Let me explain, at 7:06 of the episode an ost starts playing and the base/beat was so familiar with Thriller of Michael Jackson. I checked this through going to the actual Official Video on YouTube and at 6:20 to is the base/beat what I am talking about, is just the anime is little bit more speedy than the original. Just to clarify, I am not saying they stolen the base or something just curious if they got inspired or is just me. I am not sure if this was mentioned before or any thread was done on this before. Let me know your thoughts.

It could just be coincidence tbh. If the chord progression is the same and the baseline is written simple enough, there's a good chance two people might write the same baseline independently from one another.

I thought I was the only one that heard this! Melodies reappearing in other songs is actually really common though and not considered plagiarism.

I had to check aswell and can confirm that the beat in Elusive is slight more upbeat than Thriller, but it’s definitely the same underlying beat (base perhaps). Surprised you noticed it to begin with :D

This type of quotative expression could be considered a "hommage," in which the creator pays respect to the original artist.

Unlike plagiarism, hommage is done in such a way that it is hinting or subtly noticing so that the original artist's work is recalled in people's memories.
The context is the spirit of hommage. Based on the original artist's intentions, the circumstances in which it was created and published, and contemporary reevaluations, an hommage is created and presented as yet another exerted work with something new to claim.

'Cause this is thriller, thriller night.
And no one's gonna save you from the ant about to bite.

About my personal opinion on the track which is whether a copy-and-paste or not, I'd like to answer with an icon of the mysterious smile of another celebrity being caught up with the King of Pop.
