| On its own, maybe this season was a 8 or 9 out of 10, but the last few scenes with Ichinose and Karuizawa sent it to a 10 for me. Especially coming on the heels of him saying he'll finish off Ichinose if she strays, the scene with Karuizawa for me went like..."Huh? Does he actually mean it? Okay, this is kind of cute...Oh, fuck, he's at it again!" The nice and romantic music stopped in its tracks, and Kiyotaka's thoughts just gave me chills. It's great because you rewatch the scene and you realize nothing he said actually conveyed affection. But of course, a girl in love like Karuizawa wouldn't notice his verbal sleights of hand (even though she at the end of S2 knew he only saw people as tools). Maybe I'm just a sucker for these kinds of Machiavellian, manipulative plotlines... |

| I really like this series and would hope for a Season 4. 1. The art is very nice and never over powers the animation. It has improved in the years since Season 1 and is appreciated. 2. The basic plotline of behind the scenes power struggles and manipulation kept me interested every episode. I can't think of a single "filler" episode. 3. Characters were developed pretty smoothly and mingled effectively .... sort of like predators at a watering hole with one eye on each other at all times. I give this one a 10/10 as I did Season 1. I am smiling because I watched it and saddened that it is over. |

| It has already been some time since I finished this series, but I feel like I have to give a shout out to the after-ED scene in this episode here, since it's brilliant to me and I re-watch it again and again and again...for example today...so: First, they cleverly continue from the previous scene with Kei when Kiyotaka called her only to tell her that he doesn’t have anything to say to her (I already thought that was a freaking ALPHA moment when it happened, but didn’t expect them to bounce off of it with such grandiose) Kei is understandably frustrated, she clearly loves Kiyotaka, but absolutely can’t imagine that he would love her back She is jealous and angry, says what’s on her mind and is prepared to leave Kiyotaka is his usual self, all the time, that’s also one reason why the next moment hits as hard as it does (like always, it seems like he planned for this kind of event to happen) He confesses to her, in the most apathetic way I have ever seen for sure, but at the same time with unparalleled clarity and confidence! She is so surprised and stunned that she even resists for a bit until she inevitably succumbs I never even cared much for Kei, Honami best girl all the way, but the more I re-watch this scene, the more I love Kei's reaction right after he confesses to her and the more I am starting to think it's one of the best parts of this segment ^all of that is great, sweet, cute and clearly one of the most memorable confessions/romance moments I have seen, but the true true genius comes right after that: HIS INNER THOUGHTS WHEN HE'S HOLDING HER!!! There was several similar scenes throughout CotE, but not a single one comes ever remotely close to this! His cold, calculated approach to romance is something I have never seen and I never expected to see and it's definitely one of the main reasons why this whole segment is now permanently tattooed inside my brain At that point, every sentence of his inner monologue is PURE GOLD, but the last one is even faaar above the rest That masterfully portrayed contrast between the lovey-dovey atmosphere and what's going on inside his head...between his and her approach to it, which we as a viewers are able to fully share by experiencing happiness from a romance finally happening but at the same time the darkness from partially knowing what is under the lid. This is depth! Not any of the shenanigans they’ve tried before, not any of the philosophical quotes or attempts to incorporate them to the story or character traits, not any of the mind games during the school competitions, not the society allegory painted by that whole school system. Nothing of that and frankly almost nothing in any other anime touches the depth of this last scene of CotE S3 EP13. If by any chance someone read this far and haven't done it yet, I recommend to re-watch the after-ED part at least several times, trying to pay attention to every detail. I feel like I can write about it for hours, and I still won't find all the right words to fully describe it and how I feel about it |

| Once again, a finale that whets the appetite for more. And unlike when I first watched season 1, I can at least be relieved that a sequel is in the works. Seriously though, I just couldn't put this series down. It's been quite a ride up to this point. While the mind games & various schemes have been a primary point of interest, my favorite part has actually been the growth of so many characters. It's actually nice how despite Ayanokouji's robotic masterminding, so many support characters have been flourishing and taking center stage in unexpected ways. The biggest one was definitely KK. Even towards the end of season 1, I still only thought of her as Miss Popular support character and never even considered that she'd become best girl. Really hoping her feelings get through to Ayanokouji at some point and he finds her to be a romance book he just can't put down. I may even have to take a shot at the source one day. I've never gone for an LN before, but this one seems like it'd be well worth breaking new ground for. 8/10 for S2 and 7.5/10 for S3. |

| a person similar to Ayanokouji? That's going to be really interesting. Kei gets very jealous and gets very angry, learning a little romance will make him more advantageous. |

| As a Kei x Ayanokoji shipper, that last scene made me so happy. I mean, I know it's Ayanokoji and his whole "textbook/tool" thing, but I hope he develops genuine feelings for her. And please, don't do that stupid "Let's keep our relationship a secret" cliche next season. Ayanokoji also always says something ominous like "I'll deal the killing blow" to Ichinose etc. but I'm certain he's not actually gonna do these things. I would be very surprised if he took down someone like Ichinose. |
