And it only took 3 months!

I read somewhere that distributors weren't so keen on this one because of its short runtime, but I'm glad it got picked up.

EDIT:
Subtitled trailer from GKIDS:

In Indonesia, this film was shown in cinemas on July 31 and I have watched it. "Look Back" is one of the works that is highly appreciated for its deep and emotional narrative. So I really recommend this anime for you to watch in the cinema laterđź‘Ť

Yer, the NA release has an extra 15 or so mins since most cinemas refused it and said it had to be over 70 mins. Sadly this means it's probs just unimportant fluff being added, a real shame they had to do that at all. Which might also be why it's taken so long.
LOL, your opinion is wrong!

Wait what? Source?

I can't believe they would really make changes like that. It's bizarre that they would spend the extra money and time to create 15 more minutes of footage, not to mention bordering on creatively bankrupt.

Fandango, where you can buy tickets for the NA showings, lists the run time as 1 hr 15 mins. The short run time was a known issue for American cinemas and it had been rejected at multiple places for it. So I guess they felt they had to make it longer to get that cinema run.

@Eira_99 Thanks for the link.

But I still find it a bit too hard to believe... The page seems to be placeholder, which may be updated later once they actually decide which theaters will be showing them on which date and time. Or Fandango may have just made a mistake, which may be corrected later. Or maybe their database just cannot go under 75 minutes for movie entries.

I'll wait and see what GKIDS or the animation studio will have to say about this.

October 6 in Canada (Cineplex): https://www.cineplex.com/en/movie/look-back-japanese-west

"0h 57min" so probably no changes in content?

I just saw it in a theater in the US. There was a roughly 15-minute interview with the director and main voice actors shown at the end. Maybe that was the extra content?

I saw it today in Canada, can confirm there's interview footage after the end credits.

Had to leave mid-way, but what I've seen wasn't too interesting. Maybe stay if you're really interested in the staff, cast and their thought process.

EDIT: interestingly, it was distributed by Amazon Studios/MGM. Not sure if it's just Canada.
