Their dynamic keeps on growing.

Jin, a third-year student, begins a temporary cohabitation with his club's underclassman, Giichi Ichikawa, with whom he has a rocky relationship. However, when they’re alone together in their dorm room, Jin starts to notice an unexpectedly genuine side of Giichi, and he becomes aware of his changing feelings toward him. But when a third-year club member announces they want to quit, it leads to an argument between Jin and Giichi about the club. Without the tension, they could be laughing together in this room, surrounded by a sweet atmosphere.

Things must be tough for Kikuchihara-kun for his director of the film club’s role. He must surveil all the club members and make the best script for movies.

So far, there are two official couples in this anime (even though Kikuchihara said to Ichikawa that he likes him, no further advances were made till now). In the future, I think their relationship will get better.

I would like to see more action and more thrill in this anime. I wouldn’t lie saying it’s trash, it’s not like that, but the story could be developed better. It would be awesome to find out more about each other’s lives.

Just deleted a whole long examination of the episode. Decided it got too personal.

I enjoyed the episode but found it uncomfortably realistic. I'm worried that next episode won't appropriately address the things that bothered me in this one, but I guess that's a problem for next episode. This one was a bit emotionally strenuous for me, but not badly realized. We'll see if the fallout is shallow excuses for misbehavior or actually addressing and learning from a problem.

I enjoyed all the character development though, and most of the humor.

HE DIDN'T KNOW THEIR CHILDHOOD HISTORY?!?!?!!? (guess we learn about now because of that)

5/5, I don't know how I feel about all the "implied consent" "non-relationship" contact, but otherwise love it

I have 2 really trashy hot takes that aren't true, but gives me that vibe:
-This anime tells us all-boys schools makes homosexuals
-This anime tells us that BL exposure makes homosexuals
Remember, 3 out of 4 lover boys so far did not think homo-sexually previously

I love these, and got feeling we will get one more couple later. My guess is 4 episodes per romance which I think works good for this.

@LilyVarbik Those hot takes are almost the plot of half the school BLs in existence, they've become common knowledge now than just being trashy takes atp :D

Their dynamic reminds me of kabakura and hanako from wotakoi 😭✨✨. The orange haired calm person, the hotheaded glasses person 🤌🤌

@LilyVarbik and I, for one, wish it was actually true irl xD

To be a bit fair to Jin, he hasn't been forceful or overbearing with his advances, imo. Like when he confessed and Giichi flinched in embarrassment he read the room and left to clear his head right away. He's been telegraphing his attraction very openly so that Giichi isn't in the dark about how certain things about him & his actions affect Jin. Like when he compares Giichi to that uke in a manga, casually falls back on the bed, and then asks him if he can lay his head in Giichi's lap. It reads to me like he's feeling around for where he stands with Giichi and the boundaries of their casual intimacy, which is undoubtedly present. Giichi is clearly looking for a response with his... footsie/bread kneading against Jin's back, and I don't feel like Jin is caging him in in ways he couldn't escape if he truly detested the contact. And Jin does pay attention to Giichi's responses, him looking upset immediately gives Jin pause.

Granted, I looked up the corresponding panels in the manga, and the anime continues to be an extremely faithful, almost panel-for-frame adaptation, but the anime makes Giichi look way more just deeply embarrassed-blushing where in the manga he looks like he's angry-blushing, and that tsundere(?) vibe suits him more xD

I understand the concern, I do, but kind of like Hisashi's concerned kabedon the other episode, the offences don't seem particularly egregious.

What is this magic? Jin has no socks on

And in the next scene they magically appear

How am I supposed to focus with all these inconsistencies?! They're filmmakers, they should know better!

@Mladen GDI XD my damage / superpower (depending how you look at it, ig) is that I never notice stuff like that. Maybe on my 20th rewatch.

To the comfort of no one, I am pretty sure there is a panel in the manga where Hisashi has 3 hands, and it's been like 5 years and 8 reprints since the OG volume came out & it's never been corrected 😭

At this point it just seems like Jin just crushing if not outright lusting on Giichi being he is trying to avoid talking about the things important to him and making pretty bold moves on him out of nowhere.

Jin clearly is infatuated with Ichikawa, though he and his fellow 3rd years gloom all over their entrance exams and the like, with the film shoot in-between. Obviously, the guy who's so into his Kohai saw a different side of him that he finds fascinating, even though he's a film freak. But when a fellow club friend of his wants to rescind his role in the film club, Ichikawa gets all aggressive from his passion for filmmaking, but this is not the same for Jin, Tobe and the rest.

Ichikawa clearly also feels the same, though his fellow 2nd years sure did not understand what he was doing. With Jin's confession to him though, Ichikawa gets all the more confused, though thanks to him, a good talking with Tobe because of his affiliation with his girlfriend from cram school to be a showoff, that's not quite the right ambition of being in the film club, but whatever. Even with Inaba giving him a good talking about how he sees Jin, it's clear of the creative differences between the two, despite being in the same club, and Jin being aggressive to Ichikawa is just the right kind of uncomfortable, but realistic BL.

It's interesting to see two sides of the coin between the main couple featured this episode. But what's of the picture of their past...?

This shit is so cringe, why can we not have a normal serious realistic boys love story with some spice focusing on two characters

Why do we have to get this unrealistic overdramatic fujoshi bait where all characters are gay pretty boys. This whole thing feels nothing like a love story between boys, it's like a 16 year old girls fanfiction
It's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer.

I had just realized that I'd arrived at a better way to word my feelings about the last scene of the episode, so I'm gonna share my thoughts here. I don't mean to come across like a fujoshi trying to make excuses for my currently favorite series, but as a serial rewatcher and over-analyzer, the scene with Jin's 'amorous advances' did not sit well with me at all at first. But upon rewatching it several times and discussing it with my friends (+ comparing to the manga panels & the feeling they give me) I did arrive at the realization that Ichikawa doesn't dislike what's happening in principle (as in, not because he thinks he's not attracted to guys in general or wanting to reject Jin), his inner thoughts indicate that he is worried this whole thing is gonna sweep him up like the tide (of lust & desire) and hates he hasn't been able to talk to Jin about movies and how Jin feels about them and apologize for when he upset Jin during the whole debacle with an uncommitted club member Levi Ackerman lookalike the other day. That's why he is crying, not because he feels violated by Jin's touch & kisses... I think ep 7 only cemented that realization for me.

Feet play huh? Sexy clueless embarrassed Ichikawa keeps making Jin hot n bothered. Of course, given the fast af growth of relationships in this show, he uncovers his feelings - reciprocated - and makes a move straight away (well not really straight I guess). Ah, if only life was as easy as a corny shiny bl!

Can't have a romance anime without putting some sappy childhood reveal, can we. The not-so-hidden photo tells us that Jin-chan was a chubby lovely heir AND knew Ichi-kun before, possibly stealing a first place from his beloved glasses perfectionist. Bet he's soon gonna take another 'first' too and me ain't talking about movie awards *insert smug face*

Inaba might be the coolest of the bunch. The twins' haircuts, on the other hand, give me nightmares.

Nah we already know Ichikawa is the top and Jin is the bottom.

Tobe knows Jin better than Jin knows himself. He saw right through Jin and knew that he liked Ichikawa from day 1.

Omg plot twist!! Jin remembers Ichikawa from his childhood and that's probably why he's been so interested in him.

Of course someone had to knock on the door when things were getting steamy 😩 like I previously said, they're both down bad for each other

Please no more Hisashi and Mao, I only want Jin and Ichikawa.

Episodes 5 and 6 put a slightly different spin on the unfortunate trope we find ourselves in at the moment - the trope of "all these guys are couples!" which feels really unnecessary in this anime. The first 4 episodes really knocked it out of the park on breaking from stereotypes in BL, but 5 and 6 feel like they are leaning into them with satire in mind. No outright SA, but one character is clearly more uncomfortable with the situation than the other which I'm not really vibing with. There also seems to be more silliness, but that's also centered on one POV character. Both central characters are kinda campy, which actually works for them. I'm looking forward to seeing how this little arc wraps up so we can move on to the next couple pairing off, and then (hopefully) conclude the film festival arc as a whole.
Judging from the characters who will be the next pairing (shown in the trailer) I think we have something really interesting to look forward to for episode 9.

@LilyVarbik The biggest plot twist here is "He was the chubby kid?!" 😵

I agree re: the hot takes, kinda disappointing to see the story devolving back into tropes when the first 4 episodes did an excellent job of breaking away from them.
