| Makes you wonder if she would have lived way longer if not for truck-kun being stabbed. That was a purely creative choice on the author's part to move the plot forward and probably my only grip with this. Otherwise, the ending was perfectly executed, including the change in Haruki and his budding friendship with Kyouko, so much needed and right! Would have been disappointed if they didn't show those moments, cause the build up was all there. Loved the relationship Sakura and Haruki had, it truly didn't have to be defined as anything in terms of romance, they were just two people who cared about each other. Sad! But this was expected from the start. Still sad, although it touches something else in your soul, like the definition of living, connecting with people. And really, I liked these characters a lot, they hit off each other so well despite their differences, or maybe because of them. It's strange, but the movie managed to leave me with more of a positive feeling, than in tears, although I teared up a bit, too. This is a perfect example of bittersweet. |

| The movie begins with the funeral of Yamauchi Sakura. Thus begins the past up to that point. She’s quite loud in the library, and that’s pretty rude. Not liking the opening theme. He finds her diary in the hospital. She says to him that she’ll die soon, and he reacts like she just said something boring. I don’t like her loud self, but he’s the boring person I can relate with. It’s fine being carefree in the face of death, but using it as a tool to get things done the way you want is a bit overkill. She wants to speak about her death to someone. Someone who wouldn’t treat her like a fragile glass and behave normally. Her parents got word of things and they warned him to stay away from her. Despite that, she invited him over to her house to lend a book, but they were playing video games. Over time, Hikaru seemed to have fallen in love with her. When they planned to meet at the cafe, she didn’t show up. The same day, he saw the news of her death on the TV, a victim of stabbing. It seemed to hit him hard. 10 days later, he visits her house and gives his condolences to her mother. Her mother gives Sakura’s diary to him. He reads it and cries out. He made Kouki read her diary, and asked her to become friends with him whenever she forgives him. Heard it made people cry, but not a single tear from me. It was just fine. |

| Re-watching This was better than I remembered, so I increased my score. It's heartwarming and sad at the same time. The animation is pretty and it got nice soundtracks. Just... I don't know, but a lot of things feel "off" in this anime, but I don't know exactly what. I tried to get into it more, though maybe the drama is just not my cup of tea so I didn't cry at all. |
