KiliianSleipnir said:nobody like Muse Asia or bilibili is going to stream this ep? 'somebody' last week was streaming a few episodes of other shows this Summer 2024 due to the 'Olympics Anime Blackout' ;> but i can't specifically remember which shows i watched online via one of 'those sites' that had bili's or Muse's watermark on it...
frankly, i think the legit pay-for-play anime streaming services would be STUPID to not offer 'preempted on TV/Satellite' anime episodes on the exact same schedule(s) as the previous episodes were on their service(s). i mean whom in Japan or around the world would NOT hand over the cash (even for JUST THIS Season alone) so they wouldn't miss their anime due to Paris? that is how alot of P4P hook some folks into their services, offer 'something better' than TV/Satellite services. sure, as soon as Paris kicked off anybody that wanted one of those 7- or 14-day free trials could try it to 'get around' the 'Olympics Anime Blackout'... but if the P4P folks are ALL following along with the herd of TV/Sat. normies... how does that benefit the P4P anime streamers?
of course, some folks aren't going to 'fork over the cash' after that free trial gets near its expiration date. but each of the P4P services KNOWS a certain percentage of the 'freebie surfers' will stick with the subscription fees and so forth.
example? a small number of anime have been running EARLY RELEASE streaming episodes upwards of 7 days before the scheduled TV/Sat. day-one-releases for about 3 Seasons now. those P4P then CONTINUED to run their future episodes on that same 'modified schedule' for the following weeks' worth of subsequent episodes. so 'somebody out there' can negotiate with the production companies/committees or somebody on the production side of the table had the idea that kicking the 'ALL anime MUST FOLLOW the TV/Sat. schedules in Japan!' normal way things go to the curb and doing what would be best for the P4P streaming business models.
so wouldn't P4P and/or Producers follow the logic easily? they're putting episodes out 'earlier' than the TV/Sat. folks do. because that is a good HOOK! to get folks to pay THEM instead of the TV/Sat folks. therefore, airing an episode that the TV/Sat. folks just don't have the slot for this week would be yet another GREAT HOOK! to reel in some fresh fish. ;>
and YES i already know Netflix has been doing this for a LONNNNNG time now with both anime and other content they pay for or contribute cash to the production side of the balance sheet. 'Netflix Jail' and 'Netflix Binge It All Right Now!' are ubiquitous ideas these days. :)
I suppose that the shows that were postponed are owned by the tv broadcasters, so what amount of negotiating would convince them to drain future views from their networks?
They would certainly ask for more than what they would lose on ad revenue for the lost viewers, and the streaming services' thinking must be that not enough people will subscribe just because of a 1 week postponement, so it wouldn't be cost effective.
Are each of their estimations contradictory? Yeah, but you always estimate for the worst case scenario. The tv broadcasters think they'll lose too many viewers, and the streaming services think they won't gain enough.
