| I dont really know Japanese so someone correct me if i got this wrong Let's break it down Bashame Meme 馬車芽 めめ 馬車 = horse drawn carriage 芽 = sprout めめ = this is a repeat sound which written like this only holds phonetic meaning I think. This is unusual for a name since usually kanji would be used. I think if it was kanji it would have been 芽々 (sprout / bud) or 愛々 (love / fondness / affection) so it not using kanji probably suggests it is meant to convey nothing itself or has multiple meanings. Bashame sort of rhymes with bakame which means something like "you idiot!" and words ending in me め is like something you put when calling someone something (this is probably terrible explanation) which in part explains why no kanji in Meme. I think the horse drawn carriage is possibly a way of calling her lazy because carriages get dragged behind horses who do all the work. And of course sprout is referencing her hair looking like a sprout popping out of her head. Correction. Meme can mean husked grain of rice. Which also is fitting. |
