Not sure what to think; I mean, I like nipples like any other person, but...

I watched many, many things without them, and everything was ok.

I would not listen to them. I loved Urusei Yatsura and that supposedly had nips in the original as well. Thinking Ranma is going to be more of the same
As Long as the Sun, the moon, and the Earth exist, everything will be alright.

It would be better with nudity, but it wouldn't make any sense devoting an uncensored version to this while airing light beams on the censored.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

The original anime had nudity and the manga as well. I think most people that enjoyed both forms would hope for one of their favorite series to be uncensored in a remake like 30 years later. Either way, all they can do is hope for Netflix to come in clutch and have it uncensored on their platform. They did that with Cyberpunk so it’s a possibility.

I think it has to feel natural. I have my doubts about the bathroom scene in the first episode, apparently we won't see anything but their faces and that could be less funny.

nipples are natural, why to censor them? I read Ranma when I was a child and really liked that they had them because I have them too and humans in general. Feels weird when most of the animes don't have them. It was one of the things that made Ranma special so it would be sad to not have them.

BUT if they are censored it's not world braker to me. 😄

I keep seeing people who didn’t watch the original get mad about it 😭

I get not being a fan of censorship, but most just want to see some nips imo. Personally I really don’t mind either way, I’m older than I was when I watched the original and seeing 16-year-old’s boobs isn’t super high on my list of hopes for the remake lol

The funny thing is that the scene I see people complaining about doesn't even have nipples showing in the original manga, only the older adaptation. Is it really censorship if the source material didn't even have it in the first place?
This post is brought to you by your local transfem gamer goblin. Will not tolerate bigotry and will fight against "anti-woke" sentiment to make the anime community a safer place.

The problem is, why does anyone even think that simply seeing a naked body is somehow a bad influence and therefore must be avoided?

Anyone who thinks that is a truly delusional puritan.

I think most of us are joking when we say "if there's no nipples I ain't watching it." But leaving the joking aside, we just hate censorship of all kinds, and I may even dare to say that the nude scenes were part of the original essence of the series.
I like what my friend said when we were talking about this: "Even if it was nudity, it was presented in a way that was natural and casual."
If they do censor nudity, I hope they don't do it completely and figure out a way to get stuff past the radar.
Aside from nudity, I'm also worried that they'll screw it up trying to make it for a modern audience since Ranma½ is pretty dated in values and its jokes.

it's the same old story, if you consider censoring nipple a minor issue , to some it was a big issue enough to censor it to begin with

the whole deal with selective censorship across media is that it depends who censors it.

"it's ok when we do it"

Like someone else said, people just hate censorship. Plus, Ranma 1/2 is an ecchi manga anyway, so taking away the nudity completely in the new adaptation would be dumb. What they should do is make a censored version for the TV version, and an uncensored version for blu-rays.

No, if the source material didn't have it either then the scene in question would not be censored.

@wildhood Ranma 1/2 is not an ecchi manga. It is an action-comedy manga. The thing is that the story (a boy that can temporarily get the body of a woman) invites, for the sake of comedy, much gender-sex related body depictions. The anime was made somewhat "ecchi-er" than the manga (for obvious reasons), but even then, it was far from the focus.

I agree. I have never watched or read Ranma with ecchi in mind. It's just a fun absurd comedy just like a lot of Takahashi's older work, and that's what I'm looking forward to seeing more of

While i really wouldn't mind if the nips of the original stayed in the new version, I have to admit Ranma1/2 was one of my first Anime I ever watched and the Nip appeal was mostly due to me being like 12 or something. so while the comedic semi-nudity I think should definitely stay, the explicit nips themselves aren't a must.

It would look better with nipples (like the manga) than with nippleless breasts, for sure. But there won't be any breast, nipple or not.
It's not "bad" per se, but it's stupid.
