I saw great animation, great characters and a seriously well made attempt to get the horrors of losing family and friends across to an audience while still being entertaining. You saw a shota. Not everyone watches in the same way I guess…

I saw a young kid in a high position in society who probably had better medical care and diet and therefore better skin than most commoners around him and was probably dressed and groomed well due to family supremacy and wealth. Maybe even a bit of makeup, as was common in the ruling classes of the time. Now you’ve raised this point, which is as you say a thing with Japanese entertainment culture, I’ll be interested in how his appearance changes or not while trying to evade enemies searching for a well off child of a wealthy family.

they're pretty few and far between imo. Didnt ruin my enjoyment of this otherwise of this truly great manga. Also the priest has some motivations that are not so pure (not meaning sexual)

It's baffling the amount of people who just don't understand your question. Not only was it directed toward manga readers but you also got blasted from asking a completely viable question.

I also questioned their future relationship and overall tones and dynamics from that scene, knowing it's more of an wholesome one is neat.

Don't have anything against shotacon and people who like it, just not my cup of tee.

A shame it's apparently not that, i mean, how long has it been since we had a good shotacon anime? (not counting the thicc boy mage from last season, that boy only cared for magic)

It’s weird they made him ridiculously cute for a boy, but least he isn’t sexualized like they do with young girls in anime. I get your point tho, especially with that blushing scene, but it’s probably not so bad that it should be off putting. Give it 3 eps and see

again japan sexualizes a lot of stuff so facial expressions like that are not far away from being sexual too
