Not sure how long the manga is. However, it does seem a surprise for twelve episodes to adapt the start to the end of the story. Not to mention that aside from the granddaughter and her love interest, the other characters' future is not shown. Did a lot get skipped to adapt a probably long manga into only 12 episodes?

Each chapter is only a couple pages long and the manga is still ongoing with 90+ chapters so I’m assuming they adapted most or all of it but the ending was original, what a heart warming story tho.

Manga ended around the same time as the anime. From what I've heard, both endings are mostly the same.

The manga hasn't been fully translated but I assume they skipped quite a bit of content, as they did skip some stuff from the beginning of the manga. Also, the manga is 8 volumes long and usually a 1 cour adapts around 4 volumes if manga. That being said, the chapters for this manga are short and not very wordy, so it could've adapted more than 4 volumes. On the other hand, they did add in some new scenes.

Well the anime totally skipped the last 30 chapters just to reach the epilogue as soon as possible, so around 40-50 chapters left unadapted.

I still wish they could adapt this into an OVA or some sort tho:

Just here to add that the differences is that the manga never specified how many years had passed for the old Mino/Shouta scene (50 years is probably anime-only which would explain why they both doesn't look like in their late 60s) and that it shown their funeral photo as well.

Didn’t know that but hopefully the rest gets translated quick I’d like to read what was skipped

I would say kinda think of the manga kinda like teasing master tango San, where each chapter is just a random day for the most part from what I was reading most chapters never really connected with one another but where just snippets of days there where experiencing, kinda why the anime needed before the manga
