reiwa weebs will unironically tell u they want a remake or sequel but when they get it ,its suddenly souless and a cashgrab cause they dont like the thing anymore and cant fathom they grew out of it and must mean the show somehow became bad

Kinnikuman was having a massive 40th-anniversary project with tons of merch and reruns of the anime and its movies so the writing was on the wall for a new Kinnikuman anime.

If I'm right its definitely not a remake but a continuation since the 1983-91 anime adapted the original kinnikuman manga from volumes 1 to 36 now they are gonna adapt the perfect origin arc from the kinnukuman (2011) reboot manga which spans from volumes 38-60 I may be wrong about the volume numbers tho

@WuXu Sadly no. Both trailers only show scenes from the 2011 sequel and the end of the OG series. If this were a remake, then instead of Strong the Budo, they would show characters from the beginning like Mari or Kinkotsuman and tease Robin Mask as the big antagonist.

@Burgergakusei It's possible. The manga version of the arc provides enough context for events so that newcomers can get a grasp of character relationships, history and world building but a lot of the character moments and plot points have far more depth to them when experiencing the prior events. I'd still recommend reading through the manga up to chapter 387 to get the full context though (maybe 390 assuming it doesn't adapt the special chapters contained in Volume 37).

I'm pretty sure this is a revival, like his son in the sequel show was.
So I don't think you'd need to watch the old anime to understand it, they'll probably give you a basic rundown like they did with Ultimate Muscle.
The only thing to note is that references will probably go over our heads, but other than that the plot will probably just restart.

@Biisoo as someone who only seen kinnikuman II this is a prequel, you can watch ultimate muscle II without the first watching prequels so I assume you can with this. plus i think the first ultimate muscle is nearly impossible to find subbed in english so watching everything doesnt matter. ultimate muscle 2 does reference some stuff but you wont be lost if u skip
