Hello everyone, this is my first post on any forum, so I'll leave you some questions here (for those who finished Blade of the Immortal of course).

1.How do you think your experience was watching Blade of the Immortal?
2.What upset you the most about this anime (if applicable)?
3.I want to know how many fans we have among all the members, are you one of them?
4.If you had control over the story, what would you change?

I thank you all in advance, those who read this text, I am proud that the BOTI community is growing, I am crazy about this series and I love it a lot. I'm glad that there are still people who love it, knowing that it's very underrated. By the way, the anime almost reached 100K members, we have to celebrate :))

I kinda feel the same as you bro it is an incredible story about revenge and whether revenge is worth it or not. Another highly acclaimed series that tackles the theme of revenge is Vinland Saga, but I personally think Blade of the Immortal tackles it just as good if not even better. And I know Manji is supposed to be the main character but Rin steals the spotlight for me, she is such a great character.

I think my favorite scene in the entire anime that really left a strong impression on me is when she is trying to cross the border to get to Anotsu. And while she’s claiming to be this other person, memorizing their whole life’s story. The anime is showing flashbacks of when her parents were killed. The anime took that scene to another level in my opinion, showing how committed she is for her revenge and the lengths she will go to to get it. I still prefer the manga overall though. I have not finished collecting those gorgeous deluxe editions, but I will get around to it.

@majin_mark505 I really appreciate the reply bro. Certainly Blade of the Immortal approaches this theme of revenge from Rin's point of view, and from Manji's perspective the salvation he seeks. Manji being my favorite character all time, but Rin played important roles in the series, even if Manji still considers her a child, a fact that helps to initiate her. To say it myself, a scene that marked me, besides the epic fights between Manji, Shira, Magatsu, etc., was the prison arc. As you also stated, Rin does her best in this arc.
I am very glad that there are still people who correlate with my ideas.

This series restores both the thirst for revenge and salvation in the first place, that's why Blade of the Immortal remains in my soul. I also collect manga, more precisely the omnibus volumes, and I have 7 of them.
Thank you once again for your time dedicated to this discussion and I am incredibly glad that there are still fans for Blade of the Immortal, good luck in what you do.

I love this Anime, I had a unique experience, a story as polished as the Imperial Treasury of Japan, I won't go into details here, but it is an extremely necessary anime for those who love Japanese culture and a story of tragedy, supernatural and a lot of gore, I hope it reaches 100k soon! (I recommend reading the manga after the anime)

Very correctly, the BOTI series excellently presents the perspective of the Edo period of Japan and a little after that, there are many details but as you stated, there is no need to discuss them briefly :))
The series is brilliant, especially the manga, very good, impeccable artwork and I can say this forever.

I agree with you, the story is a masterpiece for me, in the seinen historical genre.

I still think that the manga is superior to it's anime adaptations: the 2008 was only 13 eps and only adapted a fraction of the hole story, the 2019 was much better for sure, but it missed great parts too.

what i like the most about both is that all the characters have depth, and I ended up liking them all, except for Shira and sabato. And makie tachibana is one of the best female chara ever for me.

what i didn't like is how it ended. didn't want that guy to die 😞.

Very nice! Personally, I also like the anime (2008/2019) a lot, but really, the manga is superior, in 31 manga volumes and 207 chapters are squeezed into 24 episodes in the one from 2019, and the version from 2008 is very good, keeping everything the narrative thread, but production was stopped due to the unfinished stage of the manga.
Makie is a very agile woman, and has amazing skills, I often enjoyed the epic battles. For me, Manji is my all time favorite character, due to his monotonous lifestyle (because of immortality), he wants to get immortality because it affects his whole body and the way he fights, his skills started to rust.
And I liked it the way in which he is subject to a whole testament, to kill 1000 bad people, to get his immortality and mortality. In short BOTI is Masterpiece.

I think I was maybe in the wrong headspace when watching this series, but I didn't really care for it. By the end of this series, I found myself indifferent towards the characters and uninterested in the plot.

It was rushed in development and adapted poorly. However I did generally enjoy it. Probably mostly because Manji is one of my favorite characters.

Effectively, if you take their proper meaning, yes, that's what it means, as you specified. I wanted to combine them by presenting how anime affected me (that is, it is a hidden masterpiece in the world of anime, even if at first it wasn't like that, but now, after some time, it's not the same anymore, not?). And for me, Manji is my all time favorite character and I had fun watching the anime, reading the manga, I even saw the live action (it was good).
Through all this, the anime is only underrated and not hidden, that was just what I felt, and the same with the masterpiece. Thanks for the reply once again!
