I understand this studio isn’t Kyo-Ani, but so far animation has been solidly above average in every single episode. The few fighting scenes were solid, the voice acting is stellar, the director and soundtrack also seem to have effort in it.

I’m not a source material reader, but seriously, what even happened to make so many people upset over what’s apparently a very objectively above average adaptation?

To be honest, there's nothing wrong with just wanting something better. I just wonder what it could have been. If Spy x family got this type of adaptation, it surely won't have been as popular as it is today. As u said, it's slightly above average, but no one before an adaptation wishes for a work they like to get an above average adaptation they want it to elevate the source material. So, while I'm grateful it's finally getting an anime, I'm still slightly disappointed in the quality.

Like look how utterly lazy the op and ed sequences are

Agreed for the opening. Matter of taste, tho. I don’t find it terrible or anything, just mid.

Ending seems fine to me.

As for the adaptation, this isn’t “slightly” above average. It’s very solidly above average.

Also, Spy x Family has one of the best adaptations in a long ass time for it’s genre. Straight 10/10.

This one has an adaptation which is like 7/10 or 8/10.

Very much fine.

For a MUCH less popular manga, I’m actually quite satisfied so far.

Like, look at Helck if you wanna see an actual bad adaptation.

This is the Jigokuraku situation all over again lmao. And the issues are actually much smaller this time.

Well I have seen this kind of situation so many times now, lots of people just only care about animation 😅 not the story. I don't know what's wrong with people, for me if animation is decent I'm gonna love the anime, ofcourse if the story is good. well I have watched 1300+ anime within 5 years so
I have experience watching low quality anime with good story.

I don't read the manga, so I have no point to compare. But I have been enjoying it a lot so far. Production-wise, it's pretty serviceable. Characters never look particularly off-model, there's some good sequences and board choices occasionaly.

If anything, I feel Yozakura's fandom should at least be grateful it's not a production disaster (yet) like Ragna Crimson's second cour or Misfit of Demon King Academy right now, lol.

Like look how utterly lazy the op and ed sequences are

Eh, neither is that remarkable, but I wouldn't outright call them '"lazy". Specially not the ending, which has neat sprite/pixel art aesthetics.

I feel you. I’m the first person to criticise bad animation like off-model key frames, disjoint or missing in-betweens, overuse of stills, poorly integrated CG animation, etc. but this show has been fine. I mean look at some of the stuff that has come out this season and how horrible their adaptations look.

The more I read concerning the art / animation issue, I think people are spoiled and too unfair to some studios.

Or some who try to mock an anime, but can’t find anything to complain about, will use “bad art / animation” as an excuse to claim it is a bad anime.
ejleonMay 4, 3:03 AM
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

You said it all, friend.

That’s the thing.

I’m all for complaining when things are actually bad.

But it just isn’t the case here.

This is actually good.

Not even average.

Good.

I personally don't have an issue with the animation. My problem with the adaptation is skipping whole story arcs that tie into the continuing story.

Lol, I'm okay with the anime adaptation. No difference from the manga. The anime rn is an 8/10 for me while the manga is a 9/10 for me. Nothing about the animation bothers me. So if you find a problem with it, that's your take I guess.

Not that I know of. It's adapting pretty well just like a shōnen anime is supposed to.

It's not a problem. They be complaining about the animation quality. They can't even see the animation is exactly like the manga art, SILVELINK are doing a great job. I wanna see where this goes. The hype moments in the manga are gonna come. It's just a matter of time.

@Isekai-Enjoyer He didn't lie completely tho, they most likely gonna cut the arc that was in chapters 5-8. They adapted some parts of that arc in the ep 4 and we don't know if they're going to adapt other action scenes from that arc in some other way, or maybe they'll skip them entirely. But they're basically rearranging the story, the manga goes slightly different than the anime.

As long as they adapt it in the long run, it will be fine.

This anime has 27 episodes.

It is very unlikely that it will be rushed.

@All_Mighty_God The problem is if you have read the manga you would have known that the mangaka has some insane and detailed panels and when you put it next to the manga its annoying and feels lazy when I just feel like the cut corners everywhere. Hell its not even ep5 and they skipped an entire arc and put instead something that happens at chp 40 and is just to get to know better kengo... Not that I have a problem with kengo but it kind of feels like they know that there wont be a second season thanks to disney plus and silver link poor management soo they rush everything and delete panels A lot of very talented people are working on this anime like Ooyoshi who work on planning the first seasons of my hero, demon slayer, oshi no ko, jjk 2 or Toshihiro who is the chief producer that was the producer of the first season of attack on titan and even pet girl of sakurasou! and I wish that they would wake up when the hard stuff would drop in the anime because they got really qualified people to work on this)
Everything in the manga is soo detailed even when they just sit the room feel alive and personality is bursting from the pages. If it gotten a proper adaption this could have been the next big thing but it feel soo soul-less instead... The floor bin arc is soo important to taiyo's character development and to just delete it feels terrible! I just hope they somehow come up with a way to fix this...

I know the manga is very good and I am also reading the manga upto chapter 224 if I'm not wrong, but yes manga will always be better but let's just appreciate the fact that atleast we are getting an adaptation because some of my favourite Manga's just didn't get any adaptation like Vagabond and I don't want to talk about Berserk 😅 anime because it's "BAD".

giving out about skipping or rearranging the opening chapters is stupid. Many of them are episodic and had little to no effect on the over all story of the series. It's kind of how Reborn was a comedy series until the series took a serious tone.

Ever since Silver Link was announced to be adapting it, people have doom-posted about it. IMO, the only downside to a studio like Silver Link working on MYF is that since it's a Shonen Jump manga, people are going to be constantly comparing it to other recent Jump anime that have had multiple of the most notable productions in recent years. Silver Link is definitely doing very well on this, but when a (partially) action Weekly Shonen Jump anime in 2024 doesn't have jaw dropping sakuga every episode then many people are bound to feel undeserved disappointment.

@MizutaniShizuku1 Flower Bin takes too much time for an action-focused arc that has no influence on the overarching story. I think the anime's approach of adapting elements of it elsewhere is much better. They can make the Hatoda fight cooler.
