i simply refuse to believe this was cancelled due to financial reasons and not homophobia conflicts in production lol yuri on ice’s cultural impact was way too big for them to have supposedly "not made much" when it’s quite literally one of if not mappa’s best-selling anime to date. i hope a different studio picks it up.

Honestly It's a great idea. I'm going to do that this Christmas.

I think it's nearly every year I check if there's an update to the anime. Sad that the movie got cancelled but I seriously hope it gets picked up one day.

What I can't get over is the fact that we were lead on for 7 years: 2 trailers, images of what would be in the movie, and twitter assurances that production was still in progress. Even with the announcement that, despite the series' success, it didn't generate enough money, but not a single word about cancelling the movie was mentioned. If the movie was nothing as concrete as trailer, just as a discussion, only for them to announce that there would be no movie due to not enough money generated by the series. They could've cancelled the idea of a movie in 2017 and it wouldn't have hurt then, instead of now, after 7 years.
