| Well, that was seriously terrible, and I'm apparently the first person to create a discussion about it. While the movie looks pretty good and has some nice musick, the plot is a mess of blazing pacing beyond reason. I have never seen the OVA series, but so much happened it felt like this could have been a 6, 8, or 13-episode series. Characters appear and die quickly and are given dramatic sendoffs, but the viewer has no real clue who they are. Even the main characters are generic and just sort of there except for the main lady (who also has a weird "true woman" story going on but barely). The ending has a weird twist that didn't really make any sense because not enough was explained. Just a total mess! Also, I have to mention that the DVD and dub from US Manga Corps has some issues. Audio mastering is bad with seriously out-of-whack dynamics; sometimes characters are dramatically different in volume in the same scene in the same room. Voice acting is really, really bad. Lastly, it's kind of dark sometimes and some details are obscured because of this; I'm not sure if this is a DVD issue or just a general issue with the movie. |
