| I was surprised at how this season grabbed me, I saw the 12 episodes in 2 days, it had been a while since that happened (including the fact that 4 episodes were on a Monday). I really liked Jolyne, I hadn't seen a good female protagonist in a long time. The prison plot is very interesting, as it poses a degree of difficult environment that requires a little more strategy to deal with. The stand is very useful, although it doesn't have recovery powers like previous Jojos. |

| I can understand that classic shounen trope enjoyers (you can say classic JoJo) are feeling underwhelmed by the series: not enough bombastics, not so flashy stand abilities, lack of raw power and gar, less sudden empowering asspulls, etc. But for ones that don't care about things listed above that much this part can be more invigorating than most others. For now I'm on the fence favoring either Part 5 or Part 6. Jolyne also is a good character that has a convincing arc, really feels like a genuine experience of a person new the Stand world, learning as she goes, making mistakes, earning victories, having ups and downs. The only thing that brings her down thus far are, should I say, "legacy" elements like "ora-ora-ora" move and a catch phrase. I guess Araki didn't feel 100% confident with female JoJo experiment and felt like he had to retain some core JoJo elements to win picky fans over. Though poses I think are alright, you have to have something hinting at her heritage. What else? The plot is much better that usual (Part 5 was also an improvement to previous parts, Part 6 is further improvement). Also I enjoyed the fights for the most part. Araki really tried to improve on the formula with some mind games and weird setups. The only weaker episode was the baseball betting one, just too much classic JoJo with plot holes and lazy writing with sudden reveals, but hey, shounen crowd loved this episode so to each his own I guess. The ending was satisfying and I'm intrigued with the whole Dio evoluitionizing plan to reach Heaven or whatever. Looks like the stakes can be huge as ever this time around. Looking forward for more! |
| Just the gross factor of a frog rain would have been lethal as far as I am concerned. Add them being toxic on top of it. Pretty OP ability. Clearly the MVP of this episode and maybe even the cour. And Dio in that artsyle is kinda beautiful, ngl. |
