Azdahar is a very old Kingdom, around 2,000 years old, to the point that history has been forgotten since they didn't have a good recording system. Now days they have a whole department in charge of documenting big historical changes: new discoveries (plants, animals, locations, inventions, etc.), new members of the royal family and villages and census of their people. This information is stored on the Room of Records inside the castle, meaning only royals and chiefs have access to it.
They estimate that Oscar is the 49th King of Azdahar and each king rules about 45 years.
The people are not set to believe in a specific god, but they do acknowledge the presence of a higher power than themselves. And that's only because of the Shajra Allah, which is a tree that has prosper through generations without any care.
Since the number of mages born is so low on this Kingdom, they have learned the ways to not rely on it.
The source of the water is a knowledge forgotten, so is on Karia Al-Maiya Chief to give updates on the progress to find that out. As of right now, they have found a door that seems to lead to the underground. They believe behind that door is the answer of where the water comes from. Since it would be problematic if the Kingdom suddenly loses water, water mages are threated preciously. Also, previous Qureya Al-Muhait Chief figured how to remove the salt from the ocean water, making the edible salt and another source to obtain water. Because of such important task, it is costume for the King to do an arrange married between the Chiefs and the royal family. They also created a water system, canals that connect all the way to Karia Al-Maiya, so each village had source to the water.
The King is consider the head of the military forces of the Kingdom, each Chief is consider Commanders of the military forces and they have every men trained as a soldier. So, in sudden need of war, every men between 15 to 80 years old has to present itself to participate. If they don't, they could face charges as severe as death.
The laws of the Kingdom fluctuates between each King. Oscar has always had a strong military interest, that's why the laws regarding military service are strict at this time. The rest of the incidents are presented to the King, as a type of trial, and the King decides on what to do.
The women are seeing as a way to grow the Kingdom, since they are the ones to bare children. But they aren't seeing more than mare mothers, to the point that marriage is not really necessary. This makes women not be able to obtain support for baring children. They are the poorest of the whole Kingdom, which turned to be the majority of the slaves in the Kingdom.
The children under 15, if not in a family, struggle to stay alive. The Kingdom doesn't really have a health or education system for the children.
The male children over 15 that do survive, start their military training right away. They can also start working on the different work areas of each village: mining, fishing, farming, builders, artist, serving, guarding or transporting. There isn't anything special to obtain a job, but they will fire you if your performance interferes with their progress.
The economy of the Kingdom is by trade. Each Village has a unique good that can then be exchanged by what they lack. Same for the civilians, they exchange labor for any need: food, clothes, house, etc.
The royal family and Chiefs are the highest educated, they actually have access to tutors that teaches them to read and write. These tutors tend to be the ones in charge of recording the events of the Kingdom. So, the royal children that weren't selected to be King or Chief are the ones to be in charge of the recording.
The celebrations of this Kingdom are:
Birthdays - each individual could celebrate. The Royal family held a big celebration for theirs, usually a ball.
Coronation (June 15) - big ceremony when crowning the new King, and a celebration afterwards.
Water Festival (Mar 12-18) - celebrates the prosperity of the Village.
