Leave it to Eminence in Shadow to have an awesome season finale.

Mordred dropping some lore overconfident on Ragnarok only to end up smashed by one of its arms was hilarious.

Cid tries to explain nuclear fusion and fails lol. Anyway, no one cares how it works... "I'm atomic." We couldn't end the season without it.

Akane!!! Of course Yui Horie's character had to be relevant at some point. We ended up where we started, what a twist!.... That's what I would say if I hadn't stumbled upon one of the manga chapters covering the next arc a while ago haha. It was great to see Akane again and hear the first OP play accompanying Shadow's reveal. We're definitely in for a lot of fun in the next arc.

This series is full of best girls but after two seasons my favorites have to be Beta and Delta <3. It was nice to have Miku Ito join this season and I would have liked to hear more of Saori Hayami.

Man, I'm really going to miss this series. Getting 32 episodes in a little over a year was amazing, they really spoiled us and now they are going to be missed. I'm excited about the announced sequel but at the same time I'm not the biggest fan of anime movies. Either way, looking forward to more Eminence in Shadow!

I thought Shadow gonna hear Mordred explanation and intercept his speech as "I am also from another world", but sadly it doesn't happened.

Shadow finally back to his old world, but what happened to that realm though? they're already has magic, advanced technology, and possibly a monster?

Admittedly, that is almost always the case, unless something goes very, very wrong, since the people who didn't like the first season are less likely to even watch the second.

Ayo! Finale was bombastic.
And that twist at the end was awesome.
Gonna wait for upcoming movie or I'll just dive into light novel, if can't wait for it.

decent ride, while i enjoyed S1 way more S2 sort tried to be more serious. they also tried bringing cid way too over his own head with how the world works. it was way over the top compared to overlord

also hoping the authors know what theyre doing with the convergence cuz its like opening a whole new can o worms trying to tie it altogether. people seem to like the manga|LN|WN so it should be somewhat good
anime/manga version of steam would be awesome - https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1625396

I have one question.
- Did the 2nd season actually take around >8 months to complete development after season 1 finished OR they already planned ahead and finished season 2 long before season 1 finished development?

The last episode was an overload of information but has me so excited for season 3. So Cid has gone back to Earth-1 with no way back. The ring and remote and all of the knowledge on how to build a portal to get him back are gone. Earth-1 is now a warzone. The lady he saved in his previous life is now a saviour of some sort. There are now Human cyborgs on Earth-1.
This has never been done before to knowledge. When u get Isekaied u never return to your home planet. Does Cid even want to go back? Either way banging season, a banging finale. 5/5

Not a bad way to end the season, glad we can see some more Akane in the next one. Hope it will center around earth this time around, because half human, half robots is something that I like and search in a bad guys/organization.
But if there is something that I didn't like about this show from the beginning is the fact that Cid is really a idiot that has way to much luck when it comes to solving misunderstandings. Every damn episode is the same pattern used again and again, I know this is the type of show, but surely you can get passed the trope and do something else.

I have no idea what to think of Eminence in Shadow(-not that I ever did).
It was a show I originally skipped but a friend was like "I.. am.. Atomic! (meme)" so I watched it and enjoyed Season 1 (though I don't know if I liked it, it was most definitely enjoyable). I feel like Season 2 was enjoyable as well but I can't say I liked it. Is it weird to enjoy something a LOT but still feel you might not like it!?

My feelings on Season 2 in retrospect is: it feels like there's a lot of "world building" but it's scattered and incomplete so it leaves me with more questions than I started with.
I'm starting to seriously feel Shadow is the true god of the Aurora world, and that he's 100% irresponsible as a god (hahaha).

The story Mordred mentioned makes me feel funny because the light ball in the center brings the quote: "when you stare at the abyss, the abyss stares back" to mind, and thinking of the inevitability (worlds destruction at the end of its lifespan or the end of races before restarts), my first thought about the center light in the map is it containing all the cataclysms that can be unleashed upon worlds, like a "Pandora's box" for them, but there's no way right!?

With Shadow returning to Earth(?), questions like "did his vanishing from Earth lead to its destruction?", "what kind of story on Earth is going to happen with "ATOMIC Shadow"?", "Will something happen to Aurora World because of Shadows disappearance (or even a time-stop/shrink)?", and "What kind of crazy thing will happen when he leaves Earth (again in the future)?".
Even the questions of: "Did he return to Earth just to save Nishino-san again?", "Is he going to start a Shadow Garden on Earth?", and "Will he create a gateway for Earth and Aurora World to pass back and forth?"
There's even: "Is the little girl in the Earth poster Aurora before going to Aurora World!?"

QUESTIONS abound. I don't know/understand anything!!!
And then I returned to a strange question: Did I know anything at the end of Season 1 (answer: no).
Nothing has changed apart from the number of questions increasing EXPONENTIALLY.
How did I go from have 6-20 questions to having 36-400+ questions!?

Shadow had fun dealing with the Cult shit. But then, suddenly, black hole happened and he went to his former world, Earth. We see Nishino again, and it seems like she became a vigilante kind after Cid’s former life died. Then we see those two guys who were attacked by Cid before he died. Cid faces them again, but as Shadow, and they still recognise him. This was a good ending. I wonder how the next sequel - movie will be. There isn’t much to worry I suppose, because Cid is capable of moving out of the world of his own free will.

The ending makes not much sense from author perspective.. why and what for he would have to return to his world and with powers he gained in previous world?

I think I might miss the girls more than we will ;o so next is a movie?
I wonder how far is the original, is it light novel? game ? manga?

anyway the first season was way better than this season..
there was also too little of Alexia
and that pink haired girl Barnett Sherry that her father was killed by shadow she should have some role in here after what she said in first season ending..

still it was great to watch this anime and I'd like to see more of the story, but now that ending.. it stopped making sense.. just some mumbo jumbo put together like generic isekais...

I hate it when anime/manga that I enjoyed ends, especially when there could be much longer plot and when I love main heroine :P

@Thyriad-oPPailov I'm not so sure about that.
The ending provides a connection between worlds and supports the theory the Cult was talking about. Furthermore, don't you find it out that shadow's past life was shown so thoroughly; isn't the usual being hit by Truck-kun (or similar) and then moving on to the actual story? It's curious what role Earth(?) will play, if any.
I'm more shocked you think the author's perspective is wrong given the author wrote the novel long before this anime was released, and based on some minor(?) spoilers on the wiki I peeked at, I can't tell if the Earth(?) arc is relevant but it does seem to happen. Take a single step back and watch this episode again,
Shadow said:
.. The extreme I must surpass... Seeing this place, feeling it, I realized again what I must do. I guess you'd call it "remembering why you started."
From an AUTHOR-SAMA's perspective, returning him to Earth could be to help stimulate the memories of his past life. Another purpose could be to prove there is something to the story of the Cult member (to some extent). From these 2 factors alone, it's safe to say, it's not just "The MC defeated the boss and got transported to another world (like a trap)".

Thanks to your post and looking back, I noticed an oddity.
Shadow's responses before and after "I'm Atomic!" lead me to believe he could have multiple personalities (like Yugi/Yami but without Yami being an external soul). Before using it, he's all, "I remember!" and after, he's like an excited child who hasn't remember anything (and doesn't seem to have some goal) and is just having fun.
EDIT
Looking back at Season 2 Episode 2: "Oh yeah, I think I ran into my sister back there somewhere..." My suspicion increases.
END EDIT

Looking at this reply of mine, I've realized my previous post on this topic could be wrong. Others are saying they liked Season 1 because Season 2 doesn't fit their expectations of a story, and I mentioned this season felt more like world building but now I feel my response was naive. Just like how I thought like an author-sama above and reasoned Shadow's return to Earth(?), I feel like this season could have more to it that we might not have noticed by casually watching it and only re-watching the HYPE I am atomic scenes. This is just a feeling though-I'd have to watch it 1-3 more times with that in mind to know for sure.

re: Sherry
Doesn't she need time to grow? It hasn't even been a year, i think? Also, she's a support type so she won't be on the front line (where Shadow & Shadow Garden are likely to appear).

I had dropped the LN after the third volume (which the first two thirds of this series covers) due to some dissatisfaction with how Shadow was treating his followers somewhat like ignorant children when he himself was just mindlessly playing a game.

Decided to watch this hoping it had improved on things a bit like the first season did... and it slightly does in one key respect: It tones down how desperate for money Shadow was. That was a sticking point since earlier in the series the girls offer him as much money as he wanted, so there was no need for him to destroy their business to acquire it.

That's really the only positive since both this and the source ended up having the same issue of the vampire arc being much too rushed. Still, it got me to go and pick up the fourth volume, so I suppose it did its job well enough.

EDIT:

So, having read the first half of LN #4 now, I can say that this adaptation of the wedding arc is FAR superior to the source. Looks like my first instinct was correct and it will be best in the end to watch the Anime exclusively.

WHAT THE FUCK?! CID’s back in his old world… but it’s suffering the effects of the realms merging (I’m guessing).

I can’t get my head around it… really wasn’t expecting him to return to his old world! What’s going to happen to Shadow Garden and how is he going to get back?! Does he even want to go back?

I can’t wait for the movie and PRAY for a season 3!
