With all members and rival schools known, plus the free piece still aways to go, the Boys' Choir competition can finally start.

The practice somehow got in the way of a robbery, which said culprit fled to the school and put Rika-sensei and the boys in danger, though one rather selfish vlogger decides to send in delivery personnel one after another, which got in the radar being hostages. The boys, however, decides to make their free piece a chance for Yazawa to save her. But Haruo coming back and criticizing their song, the Principal has to come in thanks to the photo that Kaito spread to Haruo...to have teatime and dissuade the robber from making any moves. That, adding to Haruo's mistake Salumikki (which was supposed to be Earl Grey candies), the case was resolved eitherway thanks to the versatile Principal having marital arts moves to disarm the robber.

This is such a wild and weird episode that feels like it can only be written by amateurs.

Absolutely horrible episode. Either the plot was written by people who don't care or they literally ran out of time to come up with a plot and just had to make one fast. A robbery? Really? FYI: This is a completely original anime without a manga or light novel. It is being directed by Jun Matsumoto and the story is being written by the Kawagoe Literary Club. I don't know if they are high school students or college students, but that explains a lot

What even was this episode??? Not sure if genius or not, there's some absurd humour there, but... that's quite a switch when the series hasn't established itself as such through more than half of it now. With WonderGran, at that. And indeed, why is HE not wearing a shirt and why are the boys?? And why is Nofilter sensei literally reduced to an uncaring deliveryboy now???

Oh my gaaaaaaaaaaaad
I don't even know what to say anymore. What kind of moron made this show

So after they performed at the lean-to at a scout camp with like 20 people in the audience, Old Hag reckons they're ready for the Big Time now. She tells Maestro she wants them to enter a National Competition. Of course there's a National Choir competition, of course.
The boys are hanging out at school fanning themselves with notebooks, making it obvious they are hot (well the salaryman uniforms aren't helping) and Maestro is not interested in teaching them anything he's reading a magazine. What is up with that robot? WHY IS THERE A ROBOT IN THIS SHOW

So they decide to go somewhere else to practice.... and the practice.. THE PRACTICE. They start clapping, and it only animates one guy's lower leg (foot tapping?) and two of them clapping... and clapping and clapping.... CRINGE!!!!

Well Maestro is wandering around town talking to himself... why is he even a character in this? He isn't interested in teaching the choir boys anything, he doesn't lead them in singing, he doesn't do anything... but he bumps into a somewhat fat, old looking guy wearing a covid mask. The guy looks suspicious, and runs off. But not just anywhere- he stumbles in on the world's worst choir practice, and takes Rika hostage. And they just hold their hands up and don't do anything!!!! IT-kun asks the totally ridiculous question is the gun the guy is holding just some replica, then he ASKS THE ROBOT. They all just standing there holding up their hands. The robot yaps some useless shit and ORDERS LUNCH!!!
They can't figure out what to do- a group of physically fit teenage boys and ONE fat guy holding their teacher hostage- and they just stand there. But they have a plan- next scene- THEY're CLAPPING AGAIN using the same stock footage from the previous scene, clapping and tapping their feet.
WHAT
THA
FUCK!!!
I nearly broke my jaw cringing at this!!
Then a bunch of door dash guys show up with food deliveries!
And IT-kun TOOK A PICTURE of the perp and sends it to the most useless chud in the whole show, who just continues walking around talking nonsense. Everyone ends up returning to the community center- but who takes down the guy holding her hostage? Maestro? One of the students? The police? No.

Guess who.
You know who.

I see parts of myself in Haruo-sensei lol he was great this episode, but the real star was second best boy IT kun and Ei chan made a valiant effort.

Getaway was great, also how they could maintain that multitasking to stomp to a beat, clap to a beat, turn, and also sing. Nice.

Principal was wow. Best girl of the season. No competition.

Lastly Magic and Hakase voice in the ED version is so good, can't wait for the ED CD.

This was actually the strangest most bizarre episode to date, like last week it was just a mildly boring slice of life musical series, and this week, WEE WOO WEE WOO HOSTAGE SITUATION ARMED GUNMAN ON THE LOOSE! It felt like an actual fever dream one of the students was having.
I exist, therefore I weeb.

We're on that crack head energy hour. There was so much going on it was wild. BUT I genuinely believe they were having fun with this episode, and that's fun to see despite maybe being a confusing ride for the watcher. It's not completely difficult to understand or anything though, just weird. XD Like I said, crack head energy.
I need to say, the main group's English is actually pretty good, so good on them. The other choirs could use some more enunciation practice. Rika had a good idea to try an exercise that focused on rhythm and such though. I also appreciate that this isn't one of those anime where they just straight up don't practice. They DO practice despite the shenanigans.
I'm assuming that shirtless guy was IT's dad/relative. Wonder what'll happen there.

Enjoy your anime! | Witch Cafe Wisteria
