Compilation of the possible inspirations from this set of paintings (1819-1823) to Isayama.
In case anyone is curious.




"Saturn Devouring His Son":


"The Colossus" & Attack Titan in fighting stance (Grisha's titan is physically very similar to Goya's colossus):


"La Leocadia" & Titan leaning on the house:


"The Great He-Goat" (or "Witches' Sabbath") & Devil of All Earth


"Fight with Cudgels" & Titan Warhammer


"Atropos" (or "The Fates") & Titans rising from the sea (ED season 2)

I am 100000% sure about the colossus, I don’t remember where I but heard that he was inspired by it. And when I started living in Madrid and in Prado I saw this painting, I was weary shocked and recalled this fact about Isayama’s inspiration by this picture

Also, I believe there are Norse mythology references as well in the series.
