Why is this so obscure and underrated?

Seriously though, I thought every anime is popular, but turns out, this is the most underlooked anime I've seen. I don't know why it never gets the attention it deserves, but maybe there's something about it that tells why people don't care about it as much as I do. I guess people want something that's waifu bait. Seriously though, they should rather watch this than something waifu bait. I know I've seen how anime can be waifu bait at times, but this one is something rather simple, yet interesting. It needs more attention than ever! Waifu bait does not equal good anime. I don't think anyone can read this, but if you are, please do me a favor and watch this anime, I'm begging you!

the storytelling was REALLY flat is why it's underrated, I think. show continually lacked punch both in punch in its stories and comedy. Kohaku was fun and I loved the nekomata, but most every episode, regardless of whatever novel concepts were dredged up, left feeling like, "ah, well that happened, I guess." Solid 6/10.

(sorry to be a snob - I take no pleasure in it and high hopes for this show, when it aired, being a person who's been working jobs for 20+yrs...)

A similar show that hit its beats better, I thought, would be The Morose Mononokean.

Yeah Its hugely really underarrated... I'm so in shock... The storyline was amazing maybe the studio didn't deliver the storyline adaptation in to anime really well ..but still it was amazing... I both reread and rewatching, anyone in love with yukai stuff will be really in this anime...
Lately I started to skip Mal ratings because these ratings became more doubtful each time like stupid stuff have high rate while really good have low ones .. Nothing new about this, but lately this become so obvious...
Either way the anime have a manga and a complete one I highly recommend reading it.
