I kinda liked the structure of this, although the songs were not that great this time. It's always fun to see what excuse the principal will give to engineer a chance for her son to meet someone that might make him less of a douchebag.

This was weird. What bug crawled up Nofilter Sensei's rear that made him weirder and more presistently standoffish than he'd been before? Felt so random. And then Kawagoe totally killed it with their song there (who even WROTE the other one jfc). Some master manipulation in the background again, but overall it still felt like something was missing.

Here we go with another boring episode in this weird anime

So Maestro is hanging around again, apparently he's composing a song for the boys, COMPOSING a song... and all I could think was "Oh no..."

Old Hag marches into the office and out of the blue announces he would have an easier time composing his song if they all went camping in the woods.
So this is a camping episode now. At the camp they meet another old hag, which I'll call Old Hag #2. In a scene she tastes curry as elevator music plays in the background, and agrees to review their song. IT-kun is wearing a Boy Scouts uniform for reasons. No idea what's happening.
So there's an outdoor stage where they're practicing, and out of nowhere Maestro #2 comes up and gets all smug and brings his group of guys who walk as stiffly as he does, and they go demand the Kawagoe boys "clear out". The two groups face off- and I thought finally some conflict!! A fight? Someone's getting pounded- but no. They all stop arguing when they hear Old Hag call out to them, riding up on a SEGWAY. Yes, two groups of teenage guys totally stop arguing at the sight of an old woman riding toward them on a Segway. CRINGE!!!!!

At this, Maestro storms off. Why? Well apparently he realizes just how boring this anime is too, and wants out.
But then chick-sama goes up and begs him to stay, and when he says something arrogant and selfish she SLAPS him. I thought he'd surely turn back and realize her point, since it was framed as if that would change his mind- but no- he says "I'm not interested" and leaves anyway. What??? DUDE. It's NOT ABOUT YOU.

So then Old Hag #2 goes to wherever he's waiting for a country bus or something, and talks him into staying to conduct the boys in their song. Which is major cringe. WHY do they insist on having English lyrics in these songs? Tbh it wasn't nearly as terrible as some of the other songs that have been in this, and mercifully there were no dance moves. But it was still corny AF. And that solo singing at the end, "Ohh oh oh oh ohhhh ohhh" MADE MY EARS BLEED. STOP! MAKE IT STOP!!!

With the free real estate original composed piece, Haruo is having a bit of a slump, so it's off to training camp.

A rival choir group got there before them, and they pick up a fuss when Haruo is only there to find kabocha. Instead, they find Haruo's friend of former music arranger Ume living in the mountains, and the boys got a free pass to her place by doing sweets in exchange. But Haruo has been illusioned for so long, Ume takes control of the music composition, which the song will be in English. And just because they can, the Principal comes along on her power bike and just determined a choir battle then and there, what oddity. At this point, Haruo just doesn't care, even with Rika just slapping him because he's not investing in them...and Ume convincing him to go back and fix them up, only he knows the choir's direction the same with orchestration.

The songs this time...I'd much prefer last episode's with Urawa Academy's spirited song than this training camp crap. Kawagoe Academy's free English song...it kinda resonates, but it feeels like amateur voices coming together to create one voice (and to be frank, it is).

Try better next time...

Yazawa always has the best fashion sense lol. There has to be a story behind it.

Not the best songs on the OST the lyrics for the jerkwad team were goofy lol.

But I loved the episode for Hibiki development and Rika, just realized but we never did get his full background.

it's annoying when they always get ridiculed by other powerhouses, but that's all part of the plot i guess. and the English lyrics is nice, but their delivery...i like their Japanese singing more than their English one. it's impressive if they can sing in English, but something gets lost in the delivery IMO
