----------------------------------------
Mizuha asked Azemichi for something funny before she move. Sadly he can’t think of anything. The confession was also the final goodbye.
Everything changed when he met Higashikata Taiyo, a popular comedian in the school. Found out Azemichi is also interested in comedy, he asked him to join. And got refused.
Taiyo founded a new partner.
Azemichi go to the festival. And then he found out he got trolled and it was Taiyo’s plan for Azemichi to join him.
He was nervous at first. Then when he said “SENSEI”, everyone laughed. That give him the courage for the stage and everything was done beautifully.
And now he decide to become a comedian with the goal to reunite with Mizuha.
Wow that was an amazing start. And of course amazing art from Obata Takeshi as always.
Too bad that this will be a Monthly instead of Weekly.
If you don’t know where to read, it’s now available on MANGA PLUS.

After Death note, nothing Takashi has done has ever been good. This first chapter already threw a lot of information and left the reading that was supposed to be fun, in a bunch of boring and a lot of reading.

I feel like for a manga about stand-up comedy, the funniest part of this shouldn't be how poorly it's written.

Okay. Wow. It was good. Like REALLY good. It made me fell, eh, EMOTIONS and motivations for both characters are pretty good. I am as far away from Japanese comedy as possible, but I still enjoyed this first chapter (much more than entirety of Platinum End lmao). You can say it's pretty similar to Bakuman (well, yeah, it is), but the topic is different this time- and you can say author clearly inetersted in it from the way he writes.
I think the weakest part is and going to be jokes. Japanese humor is pretty... specific and there a lot of jokes that don't land for Western audience because they are hard to translate. Well, we just have to wait and see. I am sticking for the ride.
I dunno why people are so hating about it. Curse you, different tastes!

Must be sad to live in a world where Bakuman and All You Need is Kill don't exist :c

Really enjoyed that, some jokes don't land (I still found them somewhat funny though) cause of the translation of the joke and how this seems to be a Manzai* type of comedy which might not be your thing (it is mine though!)

Thankfully it's not just a joke diary in manga form, there is an actual story to it, I'm interested to see Taiyo and Azemichi develop over the course of the story, I think they'll realise that they are using their backstory for motivation but they actually just love comedy a lot (cause u need actual interest to act on the opportunity), but that's probably for later

A good introductory chapter and Obata with his great art as always

*Manzai usually involves two performers —a straight man and a funny man —trading jokes at great speed. Most of the jokes revolve around mutual misunderstandings, double-talk, puns and other verbal gags

Takeshi Obata is an artist in most of the manga he is involved in (death note and this included) so u can't exactly blame him for the story (Ahem-ahem...platinum end)

I suggest reading 'All You Need Is Kill', 'Bakuman' and 'Hikaru no Go' (once again he is just the artist in these stories)

Took me a few days to finish the first chapter, this is so not my thing. Not gonna read this even thou Takeshi's doing the art. Proly might come back in a year or so if this becomes a succesful series by then and doesn't get axed.

I honestly really liked it! As far as it can go, I thought the first chapter was pretty solid. The characters are both very cute and fun (personality wise). I do think the premise is really niche and the fact that its about two kids wanting to become the comedians can thrown people off, but i personally really liked it. Its fun, lighthearted and entertaining.
The jokes are the biggest problem here; since most jokes get lost in translation, i couldn’t really understand most of them (Still i didn’t really mind lol).

This was a weird chapter, very clunky with how the whole comedy duo was established and the writing really besides the humor itself. The actual humor definitely struggles here because of not just the translation to English, feels like it would hit way, way more in Japanese itself with the kind of humor there. Maybe if this was animated or in person, you get to actually hear the performances along with seeing in motion how the jokes are conveyed, which would make it potentially funnier there, but because it is a manga, the medium doesn't click with the style. It's different for sure, and it's not terrible by any means, but it felt pretty flat overall and tried too hard in some aspects.

Obata's art looks nice as usual, not much to say there.

Bro, girl wants jokes on tap.

A whole manga about a man's feeling... if I just knew what to say- she'd be mine.

Author clearly knew what to say if he got Captain Deathnote and Hikaru No Go
