The Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi (Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill) special event announced on Sunday that a second season is in production.

The first anime season produced by MAPPA aired in 12 episodes in Winter 2023. Crunchyroll streamed the anime with subtitles.

The anime adapts Ren Eguchi's adventure fantasy light novel which began on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in January 2016. Overlap began publishing the series under its Overlap Novels label in November of that year, featuring illustrations by Masa. The 14th volume was released on April 25. The light novel has a cumulative 7 million copies of its volumes in print and digitally.

Akagishi K (Sabikui Bisco) began drawing a manga adaptation on the Comic Gardo website in March 2017. The ninth volume went on sale on December 25.

A spin-off manga by Eguchi and Momo Futaba began serialization on Comic Gardo in August 2018. The seventh volume shipped on December 25.

J-Novel Club licensed the light novel and both manga in English. The light novel's 14th volume and the manga adaptation's ninth volume were released on September 27 and October 18, respectively. The spin-off manga's fifth volume will go on sale on January 10.

Synopsis
Salaryman Tsuyoshi Mukouda is accidentally summoned as a hero to the Kingdom of Reijseger in another world to help defend against their enemies. Wary of the royal family's true intentions, Mukouda is able to talk his way out of the situation due to his non-combat skill, "Online Supermarket," which is deemed useless.

However, this power proves to be anything but useless. With this ability, Mukouda is able to cheaply purchase food products and utensils from Japan—most of which are considered luxuries in this world. As Mukouda cooks up a storm using his ability, he catches the eye of the fearsome mythical wolf Fel. The legendary beast swiftly negotiates a contract to become Mukouda's familiar, unable to resist the delicious dishes. With Fel by his side, Mukouda travels the world, earning his keep as an adventurer and merchant all the while enjoying delectable meals. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I'm really happy that this got a second season. We need more Sui slime time.
Also J-novel club should damn release the manga/light novel in print instead of digital only. So I can buy and read it.

@MadanielFL I think this show is a lot easier to make and market than the potential sequel to the anime, that they were trying to promote as their juggernaut. In any case, I'm less worried about Chainsaw and more about the state of the MAPPA animators.

One of the few good isekai shows, loved how wholesome and chill this one was so I'm glad it's coming back.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

Chainsawman is the perfect example of how fake internet hype can be

Imagine being the biggest anime itw for like half a year and not immediately being green lit for s2 due to underperforming

Then Jigokuraku which apparently did even worse gets a s2 pretty much immediately

@RobertBobert Pretty much this there's less to do animation wise with this series than a complicated action series like CSM of course it will get a season 2 in time but not when their top people are working on jujutsu kaisen and "attack on titan the final final final part like seriously guys this is the last one for realsies" not to mention it seems like hells paradise was already planned ahead of time

but yeah no rest for the wicked

@Azuchi if you want a legal and free method of reading the digital books, these light novels are readily available on the hoopla app if your local library supports it

@EcchiGodMamster Jigokuraku did not even "get a second season" to begin with. It was planned as a two cour, but since the production was so fucked, doing it even as a split was impossible, so it just got converted into a season two announcement.

And not having a sequel announcement immediately doesn't mean "underperfomed". By that logic, are you gonna say OPM, Re:Zero and Jojo "underperfomed"?

@Oongbuh

idk what this two-cour bullshit is, just call it season 2 if its split apart, but i guess thats technically a 24 episode start just seperated, so w/e

anyway

i didn't say the lack of an immdiate s2 announcement automatically means an anime underperformed, im saying we havent yet gotten a s2 announcement BECAUSE it underperformed

i mean...

considering how fast some other anime get a s2 announcement AND how borderline mainstream anime is now and how HUGE the show was, you'd think CSM would have been announced for s2 after at least like 2 months, but its been a year and nothing

not saying it'll never happen, but the show was too huge for it have basically gone silent since, outside some collabs

Somehow finished the first season even though it was boring mostly. Might watch s2 if the girls have more screentime.

There was an interesting plot at the beginning, which turned out to be the only thing that sets this anime apart from the others. It's sad that the characters don't develop much.
