The series should be labeled as Josei and not Shoujo.

Under the "Business Activities" heading on their "About Us" page Hakusensha's website also lists their magazine Young Animal as a "boys' magazine". However, I've never seen Berserk labeled as Shounen rather than Seinen. Thus, I don't think it is unreasonable to call Melody a Josei magazine. Also, the Wikipedia article on Melody links multiple Japanese sources that seemingly refer to it as such.

What do you mean by Josei doesn't really exist? Do you mean in general or just in context of Hakusensha?
