| Gekitotsu, and now also Sakubou as has just been announced, are following Seiran's airing model, coming out in the form of three "movies" which still count as just one cour of anime, but the MAL database has them as one entry each (as it rightfully and sensibly should). Yet Seiran remains a cluttered mess of three disjointed entries for no real reason, except that someone made that call when they were starting to come out. Shouldn't Seiran 2 and 3 be removed, and merged with 1, to represent the second season as a whole? Would make things much more orderly, I think... It could cause some issues with things like the transfer of reviews and such, but still I think it'd be a good idea in the long run. Also, on a somewhat related note, for what it's worth, I think to maintain cohesion in people's anime lists, the entries should follow a "season" naming format. Like so: "Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These 2nd Season - Seiran" "Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These 3rd Season - Gekitotsu" "Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These 4th Season - Sakubou" etc. Because otherwise the alphabetical order is going to make a right mess of things. |

| Alright, so it looks like the anime DB guidelines explains why S2 of DNT will remain split into 3 entries. II.1.2 Limited release screenings (e.g. in one theater only, for three days only, etc.) prior to regular distribution will be considered pre-airing events and the anime will not have the Movie type. As the anime industry often trials new marketing methods, it is not always immediately apparent whether a theatrical release is a pre-release or not. This means that an anime may be added to the database with the Movie type, but then later be changed to TV or OVA. Zoku Owarimonogatari had a theatrical event screening, but an interview revealed the staff intended for it to be aired on TV and the event was a special release. King of Prism: Shiny Seven Stars pre-aired in theaters prior to the TV broadcast (announced as 劇場編集版). Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These - Seiran was announced as the second season, with a total of 12 episodes, initially released in 3 film screening events. However, the TV broadcast occurred 9 months later after the film screenings. So because the TV broadcast occurred 9 months after, it was probably too late at this point for the entries to be combined. Compared to S3 and S4 where we got the episodes shortly after the theatrical release of each film. |
