The characters aren't that cute (the cutest one was the first angel boy and they fucking killed him). The suspense is 100% about things that the protagonist already knows about, we're just sitting here like idiots waiting for someone to fucking ask him about it, for, hear me out, six... entire... episodes!!! This won't be getting better in 24 episodes, bros. Jump off while you can. Well it will be getting better in the next 24 episodes, significantly. But I don’t blame you for not being able to wait 12 episodes to get to the real shit even if the story gets slightly better, i don't think there will be much of a change in ratings given how the animation quality has been since the beginning. i'm definitely moreso someone who values a certain threshold of decent animation before i think about if the story is any good. Well the story doesn’t get slightly better, it’s a massive jump in quality. It’s like steins gate or madoka magica level of quality jumps hmm. i personally find too much a difference in quality between the first and second cour of steins;gate. but that's just me. i get that it's one of the highest rated anime on MAL for a reason. just hope that helck's story progression doesn't end up feeling overhype for me. I'd like to see our main characters get back in the action soon. i really hope that gag doesn't continue for long. getting kinda annoying. the opening visuals seem to suggest they will grow closer, which there's already signs of that, so i'm hoping she reveals her identity to helck soon to join forces instead of being cautious of him. Seeing azudora's power up close makes it hard to believe helck managed to defeat him. though i imagine helck prob just one-punched all the trees in his way. this tournament that was originally hosted was to determine who would become demon lord right? but all the final contestants besides helck are obviously weaker than any of the elite 4 lords. did they not think to about just having one of the elites inherit the title? or do they actually want helck to become the demon lord? |

Azudora "angry face" huh... I was thinking he would be bursting with anger, but he looks like someone playing Poker... Also, he controls trees... interesting... not what I expected at all from his color scheme. Cause most series and games tends to have blue... associated with... water.... not wood... LOL |

@Frosteek I'm surprised they skipped the explanation as to why a new demon king is needed via tournament when four heavenly like Azudora and Vamirio. Especially when we already know this is a 2-cour anime and they should have a lot of time to explain it. |

I liked him for his brains when he told Vamirio he was sending Helck to retake the castle. If he succeeded, the demons win. If he dies, the problem is solved. Win-Win. At that time I had him pegged as the "smart" one. But now he's showing his true powers, and he's not just smart, but also strong in magic. Now I like him even more. Given they have 4 generals if it's Fire Water Earth (including plant) and Air, then it's likely the last 2 generals are Water (and Ice) or Air (and lightning)? Just speculating. |

i wish they cooked pasta with minced meat instead of fish when vamirio and helck got stranded on that island. imagine if instead of the bizarre half-sea horse creature helck/vamirio caught, it was pasta with minced meat! |

Aaah that infographic would have been really useful to see in the anime, as it explains a LOT. I guess that's why we have discussion boards like this, where us non-manga readers at least have a chance to find out things like this, from dedicated manga readers. Mod Edit: Merged. |

Yes, I'm guessing since 4 generals you're probably right that they'll use the classic 4 elements so Water and Air for the other 2 elite lords. Seems like the Japanese mangakas aren't really fond of the Feng Shui Elemental cycle, sigh. Missed opportunity there. This witch is an interesting character. Since there are some Greek Myth ones, is there any chance it could be Ciirce? One of the more famous Greek Witches. She does have air abilities, illusions and some minor mind control if the old myths hold true. Not sure how easy it would be for Helck and Vamirio to break the barrier, maybe the Witch will leave with them and become an ally? Wait ... am I really suggesting the start of a Helck-Harem? Vermilio and Helck encountering a masked man, they both have every right to be cautious. And indeed, being surrounded by the same mysterious figures, it's a village of people and creatures that Helck knows and wants to surprise her, but it flopped so bad. Of course, all of the resources came from them, same with the boat-making to try leaving the island as soon as possible. The Great Witch residing in the mountain, she'll only pop out every once in a while, so both the empress and beefcake are on their own for now for survival. As to why Helck saved Vermilio, he just treated everyone as friends, especially since he left Edil and the winged knights, and became a traitor to the human realm. The truth bespoke when Vermilio raised the same question back, Helck has a grudge to fulfill against the Human King before it gets out of hand. Back to the cave, and more of the winged knights appear facing Hyura, Kenros and Dorsche. But these winged knights are no slouch, and to make matters worse, they are outnumbered, and just when all hope seems lost, Ista and Hon came to the rescue, with their demon reinforcements awaiting them outside the castle...plus Elite Lord Azudra (wearing his mask), knowing that the human realm has had a new king that drove it to hell and back, seeking demolition of the demon realm. Not even the strongest of the winged knights and a thousand can rival Azudra. Man, Azudra is a menace, pulling no punches. |

Haha i can't believe the chief doing surprise party for the group. Helck playing along with it while Vamirio showed a little bit of surprise with some another cute frowning remarks from her. Good part. A little casual talk suddenly revealed Helck story about the past winged knight which turned out to be his true best friend on the past? Cold face Helck become much colder this time while the sun set on the background, what a gloomy vibe going around there. Now Vamirio needs to be more trust on Helck as long as Helck indeed tell the truths about his intention. Let's see if its stays along the line for both, while waiting for the great witch to meet them.... Meanwhile back at the demon realm, the prev gang trying hard to survive. But too bad winged knights arrive again to give a little prep talk with them? Mentioned the human king which cause all the invasion, might lead to a more concrete understanding about what's going on with the human side. Tho, before that, its nice to get some Azudora cool part fighting against those bunch of winged knights at once, not just doing a fool errand and be the clown figure like before. Isty with the cat suit also, yes. Wish her to give me a nice scar on the face. Please.... |

It’s like steins gate or madoka magica level of quality jumps well the manga just kinda drops the comedy entirely and goes for a far more serious approach. Thanks for clarifying Welp, you have been very, very helpful with your response to @deafness. I started watching Helck for 2 reasons:-
It's been a mixed bag for me so far. On one hand I really want this to hurry up and "git guud" but most folks will likely have dropped after episode 3 because of the admittedly mediocre animation, which even I am not fond of. The story is okay, the comedy has been a huge selling point so far. If Helck had Undead Girl level of animation, it would be an automatic watch vs. "be patient and keep watching it will get good." Generally I am very patient, but this season I've already dropped 6 or 7 shows, so without people like you (manga readers) encouraging me to keep the faith, Helck might have joined that pile of "drop now and wait till it ends to binge, or wait till others have finished it to even consider re-starting it and taking it off the "drop" list. |

And so Helck's time on the island continues with Anne. I suppose this time on the island has helped strengthen his resolve, considering him admitting he was now prepared to face the newly awakened army once more. Guessing since Helck comments they are no longer humans and instead living weapons for the king that perhaps the king pushed these guys to invade. King definitely made a mistake being too hasty with his resources. I suppose with the remaining three demon king candidates left to protect the castle ruins, their fighting ability was drastically reduced. That is, until the reinforcements arrived. Imagine a world where the demons and humans coexistence in peace. With hundreds of heroes and maybe a not polluted landscape, they could have made a paradise. But nope, direct orders from the king to send all your fledgling heroes out to get wrecked by demons. Did humans really think 100 Baby Helcks = 1 Helck? |
