I just finished Suzume and what leaves me

It was really an average experience for me,
don't understand what people like in it?

It was an anti-exciting movie, I was expecting something better than your name

The writing and animation was amazing but the overall plot was kinda goofy.

dude that movie was supposed to reassure JP ppl who faced the consequences of Tsunami and Earthquake which hit particular regions of Japan in 11th March of 2011. If u remember, in kid Suzume's diary, that particular date would be blackened by crayons, that the day kid Suzume lost her mother to natural disaster and lost herself in Afterlife in search of her mother. After knowing this, it really deserved it's box office and praise

u just didn't understand what that movie supposed to mean, y'all remind me of my friends who found Oppenheimer mediocre and boring without having prior knowledge of it's source and inspiration 😂

artists won't drop bangers all the time and that's ok. With that said, this movie isn't trash, but any of Shinkai's movies before this one are better.

the film lacks any sort of major plot, there wasn't anything that made me feel much emotion, but I do have to give credit to the amazing visuals and art and the fact that this was based on real life earthquakes. I still really enjoyed this film because it was very pretty however I do feel it needed some more plot

Totally agree, even though the animation was so good I did not felt invested in the characters nor the plot It self, maybe I had to high expectations and It felt a bit underwhelming overall.

Then why release it out of Japan?
Also, The events showcased in Oppenheimer are world renown, so keep that out of it,
Suzume was a mediocre movie, you can't justify a bad script with a real life event backing it up,
And why am I supposed to have a prior knowledge about some events to experience a movie? they didn't tell me to watch blah blah first!
-_-

yeah I agree with this statement honestly. You can never beat the animation with these films. The story had great potential because the writing was really amazing but it just wasn't executed well. Overall, I found it to be entertaining and very funny but it dragged on a bit for me personally. Was a cool experience though cause I saw it the day it came out in the cinema
