Is it just me or did the pacing of the last 4 mins of ep 13 feel a bit off? I really enjoyed the series as a whole including ep13, don't get me wrong, but it seemed over all too quickly. For 13 and a half eps of excellent build-up I felt that they sort of rushed the

I considered that, but I doubt they'd start a second season *before* the end of the first season lol

I agree on the fact that it was rushed, but not bad at all, let me believe it was intentional

Oh I definitely don't think it was bad, I gave the series an 8. I just would've liked to see a more fulfilling ending to the season 🀷‍♂️

maybe they wanted to do the building up right and ended up not having enough time to end the series properly. I love this anime but i agree with that the end felt a bit rushed and we don't actually saw them as a couple. I really want a second season to fill this little gap !

You must be new to romance anime.

Like, virgin new.

For this to surprise you, this must be the first one you've ever watched.

I want that chapter 69 manga scene on the big screen! I hope and pray there is a season 2!

This season was them meeting and developing feelings. Season 2 would be their actual relationship as a couple developing.

They are so cute together!

umm, I agree. I expected them to talk out EVERYTHING (and i guess they did, i just don’t get why the mangatka decided not to include it). Not only the anime but the manga was really fast paced too. Anyway, it was a 10/10 for me (it kept me curios, made me laugh a lot, the characters were interesting, i could connect with them)

So you're looking at a zebra you've seen several dozen times and are confused/disappointed that it has stripes. That's a you problem.

I've watched hundreds of anime, about a hundred or more of which were romances, including the majority of the most popular romance anime. I can't think of a single one which does what I'm talking about in this thread, they all either show the relationship being formed or else end before the relationship forms. None that I recall skip over the girl's confession, a kiss, AND the forming of the relationship πŸ˜ƒ

Well, they already had enough romantic tension and chemistry, Akane and Akito even eventually bluntly confessed to each other. It's not a fluffy couple show where the relationship itself is the center of the show and it's not yuri/BL where the relationship is often artificially ambiguous to tease people (at least not Citrus type of that shows), so I don't see much of a problem. Personally, on the contrary, I found it beautiful how they portrayed their dynamics in the final.

Just based on a nonexhaustive look at the ones you have on your MAL:

Nisekoi
Haganai
Bokuyaba
Fuukoi
Kanokari
Kimi no Na wa
Koikimo
The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten
MDUD
Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! (both seasons)

And then there's a few I know of that I assume you haven't added or yet watched:

Gamers!
Nagatoro
Mayo Chiki
Osamake
Tsurekano

Note: Do take care not to confuse the series being good/bad with the point you tried to make. The counterpoint is this is a very common trope in romance anime, coming in many flavors ranging from "I like you, but it's okay for you not to know for now, we have our whole lives for you to figure it out" to the studio/mangake just completely skipping over it to the studio not finishing the adaptation or not continuing/renewing it for whatever reason. Most of the series on that list which fall into this category are some of my personal favorites.

Actually seems to be a bigger trend in recent years now that I think about it.

I don't have time to go back and check each presently but off the top of my head bokuyaba, fuukoi and MDUD all end without the characters actually forming an official relationship, and I haven't watched S2 of kanokari yet but it ended the same way. The Angel Next Door spends the whole season forming the relationship and then they both confess properly in the last ep, so that definitely doesn't count. And Kimi No Na Wa not only forms the relationship but has a good amount of kissing if I recall, and has some eps afterwards lol.
Plenty of anime have their own twists on how they handle romance but like I said, I don't think I've ever seen one that completely skips the girls confession, a kiss, AND the official relationship forming. I don't think the series is bad at all, but in this anime they skipped straight from "I'll talk to you in the morning" to "we've been in a relationship for a few days and are now holding hands and stuff", and that's not something that's really done in romance anime. The payoff just seemed a bit anticlimactic

I went back and watched the last ep of The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten and you're right, the subtitles translated the confession absolutely inaccurately so I missed them ever even doing so.

Kimi no Na wa (Your Name) not only a movie so no episodes in the first place but the guy writes "I love you" on her hand and then they both lose all (conscious) memory of each other, only meeting again by chance as passengers on parallel trains seeing each other through the window. It literally ends with them asking each other "What's your name?" and there's definitely no kissing. Sounds like you got this one mixed up with something else.

What is the difference in your eyes between what happened in this anime and the characters' not forming a relationship in Bokuyaba, Fuukoi, MDUD and Kanokari? I'd argue there's no relationship in this one either, just a promise that they decided to end on, possibly because of an S2 announcement

Yeah that's my bad I got Kimi No Na Wa mixed up with Sukitte ii na yo πŸ˜… Kimi No Na Wa ends the same way as those other ones I mentioned though. The difference is that they end before the relationship actually starts. Either the main characters still haven't sorted out their feelings for each other or else they still haven't acted on them: they're in love but at the end of the series (or movie) they are still just friends, in the case of Kimi No Na Wa they are technically not even acquaintances at the end. Whereas in this series at the end they are clearly boyfriend and girlfriend, as admitted by her and her friend and shown by the fact that they are holding hands. But we never saw any of that. He indirectly admitted that he liked her and she said she was going to call to confirm it properly, but then it just skips from her answering the phone - past them confessing and entering into a relationship - straight to her telling her friends about her new relationship. I felt like Momo desperately wanting to know the details of what on earth happened lol
