I only finished 2 Episodes and there are right now 7 Epiosdes out. I don't know if my theory is confirmed/denied by now or not.

I think Shizuka isn't a real person but instead Konokas Performance Alter Ego. My points that confinced me are:

1. Nobody besides Kokona speaks with Shizuka. Nobody even mentiones her beeing present or next to Kokona 24/7.
2. In the bathing scene in Episode 2 where only three named containers, no for Shizuka.
3. Shizuka is by design just Kokona with her hair down and blue hair and blue eyes.
4. She is the only human character listed on MAL for this show without a family name.

To put it simple man, Shizuka is Kokona's sense. You're right though. Quick deduction skill. I didn't notice that on time. Took me over 4 ep to realize that

I hoped for a more mysterious solution to the Shizuka thing. And I realized the Thread was unnessecary after I watched the next episode.
