It's not a meme at all, it's just me and this guy that are confused xD

Pon is a move in riichi mahjong that you can do if the following happens:

One of your opponents in his turn throws away a tile
You have in your hand 2 of the same tiles as the one he throwed away,

Result: You basically steal that tile and use it for one of the conditions to win, a triplet.
And for you to win hands with only Pon, you'd have to pretty lucky.


If you don't know the basics of riichi mahjong I highly recommend you play the tutorial of mahjong souls (you can play it in your browser or phone), if you don't want to, you can still enjoy riichi mahjong anime, but you won't really understand what is happening (you will just learn bits of it and in Akagi they explain more than in Saki), I only learned how to play after watching Saki and Akagi lol, so you can definitely enjoy it too.
