I can't be the only one who thought the AEUG higher ups kinda had a point in this episode with wanting to take the kids off the Argama.

Numerous times throughout the series these kids nearly get eachother killed or the whole Argama destroyed because of their immaturity. Many times characters are insubordinate (Mostly Judau) and run off with precious military equipment without orders. When Amuro deserted with the Gundam he got scolded and put in solitary confinement, yet somehow Judau can continuously steal the ZZ and not get so much as a slap on the wrist by Bright. Don't even get me started on Beecha and Mondo.

This is all not to mention the ethical concerns of using unpaid child labor. At least the white base crew was getting paid. One could make the argument that at the beginning of the series the AEUG was in a very bad spot having just barely survived by the skin of their teeth in the Gryps war. So it would make sense that they are desperate for manpower and accept Judau and his friends, but as Madchar says the AEUG is in a better position now and doesn't need to rely on the manpower of immature children. Judau's reaction to this isn't even consistent with what he has said over the course of the series. Throughout he laments how adults only want to fight and use children for that goal, yet when the adults want to stop having the children fight he says they're just as bad as corrupt earth federation officials.

The way they end up on the Nahel Argama is a bit contrived as well. I would've preferred they somehow have to prove themselves as mature, but I guess the writers wanted an excuse to separate Bright from the crew to raise the tension which I can understand, he needs a break. The icing on the cake is Beecha being the new captain.

This episode just makes you remember how wildly inconsistent, off-tone, and poorly written this entry is.

I don't care about Gundam being serious, but at least choose a side. This show changes its mood more than my bipolar ex-girlfriend.

Oh no! The most tragic tragedy of them all! Judou Ashta won't ever be forgiven for this!!!
