i think it might be because this show actually has their relationship as the main focus, rather than just a side plot that essentially exists for the laughs. in the main show we probably dont see this side of them because the story is more focused on kazuma.

To be fair, Megumin is still acting the same towards Yunyun. They still have frequent “duels”, the rules of which are decided by Megumin. Yunyun is still the one trying to be nice because she just wants a friend. If I could find one inconsistency, it’s that Megumin is shown to have more moments of pity for Yunyun. However, I would chalk that up to this relationship now being the centerpiece of the story. As such, there is more nuance to their interactions.

Yes, Megumin can be called Tsundere. In a way.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

They arent expxlicitly good friends, even if its obvious that megumin feels yunyun as a friend, yunyun is megumin's autoproclamed rival, and since of her pride megumin will not step backwards on that rivalry unless yunyun does. Plus in konosuba their relationship wasnt saw too far, they only got scenes in which yunyun would stalk megumin to have duels, while in megumin's series it is saw more far, more specifically

The reason Megumin treats Yunyun like trash in season 1-2 is because she wants her to move on and find her own party.
Yunyun tries, but fails at making new friends in Axel and doesn't fit in any party. Meanwhile Megumin finds Kazuma's party and you know the rest.

Eventually Megumin gives up and becomes friendly towards Yunyun again in season 4 and they'll make a thief group with Iris and Cecily and go on adventures together.

Yeah this weirds me out the most as well. It completely ruins Yunyuns setting of beeing unpopular,I guess the author did not want Megumin alone in this spinoff.

They don't seem to care about plot consistency or character building, if megumin had friends and yunyun as a companion she didn't even need kazuma, this spin off did more harm than good

Well, Yunyun mentioned that Megumin became less selfish and indifferent. So Megumin didn't care much for anyone except Komekko. But she only became "less" indifferent and selfish, so she still posses these qualities.
As for why she is selfish and indifferent, I think that because of her environment at home: she had to procure food herself, she had to rely on herself, I haven't seen much people helping her, people around her laughed at her for wanting to learn explosion magic.

I don't think you ever realized that she's always been like this with her.
Most of the time she treats her badly, but sometimes she treats her well.

As some have already told you, now you can see better because you have a greater focus of attention.

Remember that K, A & M act like "trash" most of the time, but Aqua and Kazuma get attention for their screams.

I think there is no difference. Might feel different because Yunyun usually gets less screentime, so we only see the harsher encounters.
