I appreciate how the show (at least tries) to deconstruct the idea of random engagements and arranged marriages, but there's one thing I still don't understand. Why, even after all these nuances, does Shiori still take her future marriage to an MC for granted? Doesn't this fundamentally contradict her intentions to build a mutually voluntary romance without coercion? In fact, in the opening scene, even the MC pointed it out.

I don’t think the show tries to deconstruct arranged marriages.True that fmс said it once but i think she might change her opinion.

I am curious how many chapters/volumes of the manga they are going to adapt. But I would say watch the show. They definitely discuss the engagement part, but they work on their relationship as normal and try not to let the engagement really influence it. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to spoil anything. Also. I am waiting for another volume to come in to see where things are currently going.

This is why they agreed to find a way to dispel the contract early on in the plot. But even then, both main characters are trying to adapt to the current situation because no one knows how long they will be bound like that.

Yes, but she clearly sees him as her future husband even if the contract is terminated.

Y'know, most of the time, the cause of viewers/readers not understanding something is because the director/author decides not to unveil the mystery too soon or to not info-dump. In other words, they intend to make the pacing like that. And I understand not liking something because the pace isn't everyone's taste.

I have no complaints about the pace or the story. I'm just wondering why the female lead seems to contradict herself.

I kinda didn't want to wander into spoiler territory but trust me, it's only a pacing issue. Stuff like that only seems to contradict because it's an issue of emotion. Later on
As far as the anime goes, MC is feeling hesitant because of what you said as feeling taken for granted and even if it's not him it will be okay for her. Shiori on the other hand already said herself that she doesn't mind MC cos she already know him beforehand through his manga. Although on the other hand, she also doesn't think she loves him (until eps 3)

So, TL;DR, the relationship hasn't sailed yet, and so far only one of them has a feeling without the effect of the contract.
