the girl here is an extrovert and her social skills are a big part of her character, mahiru is an introvert i don't really see the comparison between them
and yamada is similar to amane yes

It’s nothing like the angel next door, the relationship in Yamada-kun is much better in my opinion, also a lot less innocent. Very much so steers away from the typical “they wont hold hands until the end of the series” romance which is very refreshing. I think Yamada-Kun is worlds better than the angel next door and definitely worth watching/reading.
