I was really hoping the Kiyone story would be a Twin Peaks kind of murder mystery, since she's, y'know, a detective... the punchline being the arrival of Mihoshi was just not enough to make that worthwhile. Likewise, I wish the Magical Girl story had more magical girl action. But, I did almost get the yuri I didn't know I needed (I guess yuri kisses weren't allowed on TV until Sakura Trick? lol).

Random devolution into yuri there at the end. Kyoni and Mihoshi's reactions were properly funny.
As others have said, it's kind of a shame that they don't try and make these scenarios longer and slightly more serious. Personally I felt both the noirish plotline and classic school drama could have carried an episode on their own if they added some more serious conflict to the mix.
Also, isn't Washu literally just deleting universes from existence? Makes me wonder how much of the Tenchiverse is really just lovecraftian horror if you end up on the wrong side of one of the girls with nigh-omnipotent reality warping powers.
