I've never watched 3D Kanojo but based on the synopsis, I'd say Yamada lvl 999 will be better. I've read the manga so I know it's more of a romance than anything like fitting in with classmates or coming of age. it's also not placed in a classroom setting. The girl is older than him and the level of communication the two have is far better than a lot of shoujos I've watched. I think there is also depth of character with them although it does get overshadowed once they start a romantic relationship. There are side characters that are also enjoyable and sometimes they include in game dialog with the characters. It was just a sweet manga, I don't know if you should expect more out of it than that.

I’ve read both. I’d say they’re in the same realm at least. So far I do personally prefer it and I started this one shortly after finishing 3D Kanojo. It’s definitely part of that “geek culture” romance right now.

The only thing these two mangas have in common is that the guy is into video games/is a geek. I'm up to date with Yamada-kun (manga) and it's totally different from 3D Kanojo. It's honestly one of my fav shoujo releases at the moment, so I hope Madhouse gives it the adaptation it deserves!

Just from the synopsis, it sounds so unrealistic even by the shoujo standards. I wish they will give at least somehow reasonable way to explain this. " and against all odds, she finds herself moved by him" In 3d kanojo it was pretty smooth.

this one is way way less sad and depressing at least to this point in the manga. so i feel they have similar stories but fill different roles in the space. 3d kajo is a life life to its fullest while it lasts manga and yamada kun is mich more typical rom com developement.

Yeah its a Shoujo anime, just one that is a bit different to what you normally think of when you think Shoujo Anime.

Its definitely not a hard-core gaming anime, thats for sure.

Yeah I am not a fan of shoujo anime but watched the first episode seems okay. I just dont like the reverse harem/ jealously thingy

3D Kanojo season 2 ended up being surprisingly good.

In both shows though, I see hot girls pining for drab guys for no good reason.
