It's been like three years since I watched this, but I can't stop thinking about this one unrealistic thing in this show.
Right, so Sodachi's mother starved to death and decomposed in her room or something. Sodachi did not notice this and neither did the people cleaning her house. One thing is that the people really threw away an organic human shaped thing without asking further questions, but another thing is how unrealistic it would be that no one would notice a decomposing body.

When a body decomposes, it makes a huge mess. The mythbusters put two dead pigs in the backseat of a car, and when the pigs started decomposing, the car was basically destroyed. Maggots were everywhere and falling from the ceiling. A gas mask was necessary to stay alive in the car. A guy died in an apartment close to mine. His body was found months after his death and the room was completely destroyed. The smell wouldn't leave the room no matter what, and the whole room basically had to be rebuilt.

I get that it was dark and the house was dirty, but no, it would be impossible to not notice. I just really want to say that, because there are plot holes even in a series like Monogatari.

my guy, it was a show with vampires, women who changed into cats, children literally becoming a God, and so many other unrealistic things, and that is the unrealistic thing that bothered you?

The first thing that came to my mind after watching it was that it was a response to that traumatic event, but it is monogatari after all so who knows.
Also, as Araragi is the narrator we are listening to the version of the story told by her, if she avoided some details then it would be impossible for him to know the truth.

Didn’t they condemn the house? I believe most of the mystery was tied into how sodachi repressed her mothers death in her home, and how Hanekawa (and ougi) found out how it happened because of a locked door.
Anyway it doesn’t say anything about it except that sodachi did not notice for a while due to her own relationship trauma w her mother.
I’m sure there was a mess but they weren’t there as it happened. They are just speaking on the past.

The point was that it would be impossible to not notice. I don't care how traumatized she was, if your house was overrun by maggots, you would notice it no matter what and moving out immedeately would be necessary. This is why it makes no sense that Ougi and Hanekawa guessed what happened, because such smart characters should know that you just can't live in a house with a dead body.

And this was an expected response that someone still decided to make. Are you saying that my post would be the same if I was complaining about how unrealistic vampires are and how that bothered me? No, this is a thing that I can say something about for a good reason.

I'm not even complaining about how Araragi decided to help a mass murderer after turning her into a loli or about how Araragi decided to help a girl who stapled his mouth. I guess that is just what he wanted to do. I don't like it, but I can't say that it is unrealistic.

Well, the narrator (Araragi mostly) in Monogatari has always been quite unreliable. This becomes really noticeable in Koimonogatari, as Kaiki Deishuu narrates that story. Soo, maybe the timeline of Sodachi's mother's death was just off. Although Araragi should know better, given his parents' occupation.
