As the title says. Mainly on the first episode, I am immediately getting the vibes of Shinsekai Yori. It is obviously the setting and arts. Also the feeling of being eerie of the situation as an individual living during a (probably) post-apocalyptic era.

How about the others?
Rants and possibly reviewing shows I have watched.

I honestly think the pacing is doing well for its first episode on setting up the situation in the story for the audience, time will tell.

But you're right, the OST is giving me the classic Japanese thingy feels (OP & ED), which is cool I m o.

Yeah, totally. I think there are several points in common. The art and, mainly, the backgrounds and the color palette are very similar. Both are "dystopian" stories in a way, set in a pessimistic post-apocalyptic connected to the supernatural and, as it seems to me, the society of Hikari no Ou was also built and structured on people's fear. In addition, both works begin without much explanation and approach a cultural ritual typical of that world. Shinsekai yori also started this way, with Saki going through the suppression ritual of her Canti, if I remember correctly.

Yes! That's exactly what I thought when watching this. The same ominous feeling.

I agree that it gives off similar feeling to Shinsekai Yori due to things you mentioned. It also reminds me of Seirei no Moribito, not much in the story, characters or atmosphere but in detailed world-building.
It also reminds me much of IG's 2000s works like Ghost Hound, Windy Tales, Otogizoshi, xxxHOLiC, etc. in so many different ways. Well, that is not surprising considering it's their subsidiary and all the key staff are IG veterans with sound, compositing, coloring, editing and such being done by IG itself.

Yes indeed. If you read this and haven't seen Shinsekai yori, you should really watch it. It truly is a phenomenal anime.

I actually didn’t hear about this anime until I saw Crunchyroll post it’s OP and after reading the MAL synopsis, I IMMEDIATELY got Shinsekai Yori vibes.

It’s just a shame that series like these in-general don’t get a ton of appreciation from the anime community as a whole. Not saying people don’t respect shows like these SSY, but it just seems like they never take off in popularity due to people watch more shonen, isekai trash.

I’d rather watch something like this.

Yup, I honestly got those vibes from the poster alone, that's why I added it to my watchlist.

Shinsekai Yori is one of the greatest anime of all time. Unfortunately, the immersion in this anime is severely lacking after episode 2 dropped.

That's great to hear. I wasn't sure about this anime, but if it gives SY vibes... at least deserves a shot

I'm not a fan of horror, animation or not. I only enjoy a couple of them by year tops.
But SY... oh boy. The one and only anime that has given me pure chills of horror.

My first impression was more Mushishi, but it also made me think of SY, yes.
